Hey all

This is my first marine/chaos marine.
I followed a tutorial on another forum (google how to paint alpha legion and you'll find it)
I also had a stab at blending on the horns and even a quick bash at NMM on the blade.

I'm new to painting, so my highlights are a bit......jittery? Is that word?

Anyway any C&C would be really welcome.

Hey wow! It's an old Space Crusade Marine... I love those models. You did a really nice neat job too.

A painless alternative would be to add ammonia to bleach in a confined space listening to sad songs and reading a C.S. Goto novel.

I think you did a good job with this model.

Since you asked for C&C, here is more feedback!

The gun looks sharp as is. Perhaps a wash of badab black on the bayonnet would look nice.

The blue with green highlights is very eye-catching. I think you did the right amount without going overboard. Anymore than what you did would be too much.

I like the transitions on the horns from red to white, but it is a little stark. Maybe it's the picture, as it seems that your contrast and brightness have been adjusted on this picture from the original (I'm guessing). If it isn't that "bright" in person, then it's fine. If it is that bright, a wash with Gryphone Sephora or Devlan Mud.

As you can see, I REALLY like the GW washes.

Anyway, great mini. Keep it up and keep sharing!

Wow, that was fast, thanks for the responses.

I used Necron Abyss (loving it) for the base coat, then Regal blue.
Dark Angels green (quite watered down) and then goblin green for crazy green highlight.

The horns were actually darkflesh/skull white 50:50 blending to skulll white. Perhaps that was more than I can chew - good point though, a sepia wash might just do the trick.

Man, that's great!!!

It's been a long time since I've last seen one of those Space crusade CSMs, and it was not that well painted, you can believe me!

I think it looks great, and your highlights don't appear to be "jittery",they look very nicely done.

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

I like it. I never thought using a completely different color for a highlight would turn out as well as it did.

Nice Hangfire! I really learned something from you, the green highlighting on the leggings works perfectly with the trimming you did up top! It looks really good and withstands the scrutiny of being magnified very well. The horns are a beautiful contrast to the armor, well done!

Me likey, the contrasting highlight makes him look pleasantly glowey. Don't be disappointed with the blending on the horns either, it's a darn sight better than my early attempts.
