Would you rather have 2 units of 12 Lootas or 2 Battlewagons with Deffrollas and some nobs? My thoughts are the Wagons offer another armored target to divert AT shots from the Kans…..not to mention one of the units can be scoring…

Big Mek with KFF
Warboss on a bike with a PK

3 units of 30 boyz including a Nob with Bosspole and PK
3 DeffKoptas with TL Rokkits's and Buzzsaw

3 Killa Kans with Grotzookas
3 Killa Kans with Grotzookas
3 Killa Kans with Grotzookas

3 Nobz, Big Choppa, Bosspole, vanilla with a Battlewagon, Deffrolla, Bigshoota counts as troops

Lootas fit very well into a Kan wall, since there are threats at different range with different weapons.
Lootas can deal with infantry and light tanks.

You shouldn't have Kanz with wagon anyways as they fall behind. You want Lootas for anti tank.

I was thinking that I could use the battlewagons for anti-tank - lootas are anti transport really. I have the Koptas for anti transport . PLus the Battlewagons are bound to draw fire away from the Kans. I dont mind the wagons getting away from the walkin hoard. Theyre supposed to.

Koptas are anti tank, for anything thats not a land raider, Turbo-boost your scout move, and then turn one assault on any sort of tank for strength 7 hits on rear armor, with buzzsaw, it works great for me.

For this list, you need lootas, battlewagons are for a diffrent kind of list.

This isn't a legal list anyways, i see 4 HS options here, since that only one nob squad gets to be a troop choice from the warboss

All Nobz can take Battlewagons as Dedicated Transports.

I know conventional wisdom dictates Lootas. I think the logic there is that they have an immediate effect on the game turn one (if they start on the table).

The Battlewagon adds to the armor wall of protection, adds another scoring unit to the list, provides alternate targets for an opponents Anti Armor shots, adds some S10 and S8 PK attacks to the list (Nobz riding along). What it loses is the first turn ability to blst transports.

In the list I have 4 units that can blast tanks early - the Warboss and 3 DeffKoptas

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ill test out the list with the battlewagons and let you know how it goes - mostly I want to use the Wagons because I like the models.

Ok cool. What they doing at the bottom of the list? They elites or troops?

One of them is elites and the other counts as troops - I wanted to isolate the unusual addition to an otherwise typical Kan WAll List.

Ok perhaps put them in order so people can see where they are properly?

Though, ilke I said, Kanz fall behind out Wagons meaning they full of out cohesion and can be picked off - not hard to stop armour 11 when it's out of KFF range.

LOL its not like Im hiding them

The KFF walks! Near the Kans attached to a Boyz Mob. Initially the Wagons will be close enough to be obscured. After turn one they be. Hopefully they are far enough out in front by then that they are threatening enemy armor. I would use the Wagons as a distraction, they are there for the Deffrollas.

I know your not hiding them but most people list units how they come in the army lists, makes sense really.

So you're walking the KFF with slow Killa Kanz and sending the Battlewagons which will be prime targets because they can move quicker and what they're carrying lol - nice! Your wagons won't use deffrollas, they will be popped by melta without KFF protection.

Ditch the Kanz and your army won't be attacking in waves and destroyed in waves.

Ill have to find out - The List minus the Wagons is a good Kan Wall - its this part of the army that will do the heavy lifting NOT the wagons. The wagons are there to draw fire (which they will) and sometimes run over something with their DeffRollas

I agree the list is a good kan wall without the wagons but it's not a kan wall is it? It's a wagon wall down the road and then kanz lol.

I also recommend using the Lootas over the Wagons just because they are more versatile against Non-MEQ armies. They can do damage to Eldar/Dark Eldar/Tau skimmers, MCs etc. Your Killa Kans can handle the AV14 in hand to hand once they make it across.

Im slowly coming around - I dont like the LD7 of Lootas with out bosspole support and the fact that Kan Walls look pretty much the same.

At 1850 I think this is as good as it gets:

2 Big Meks with KFF's

3 units of 8 Lootas

3 mobs of 30 Shoota Boyz with a Nob with PK and Bosspole

3 units each with a single DeffKopta with TL Rokkits and a Buzzsaw

3 units of Killa Kans with Rokkits

The only change to this list worth considering IMO is shaving 3 Lootas from each unit and replace them with units of Gretchin for screening purposes and OBJ taking.
