Monsters do not form units, but monstrous infantry do which is what i assume you are meaning. the minimum for a rank is 3. you can do a monstrous horde with 6 wide and 3 deep. not sure about anything else as i don't have a rulebook of my own yet.

Just want to state, You Make the Call, isn't "Break Games Workshop's Copyright." This site will get shut down (or at least sued) if people just start posting all the rules in the books.
You should post questions about rules (for which you have the books for) that are unclear. GW still needs their pound of flesh.
The rules for Monstrous Infantry/Calvary are very clear in the BRB.

Sorry for the confusion ... I was trying to determine if monsters (simgle big fatties) got any bonus for rank in post combat ... I am guessing they do not so they need to inflict wounds to make sure an opposing unit does not get it? So they are at an imediate dissadvantage for combat resolution?

Then you could at least answer in a more helpful (see: less rude) way Shooting out a specific page number or PMing the rule is an option. Anything else is a waste of everybody's time, yours included.

He was either a) asking for stuff that can't be answered here because it's copyright violation b) asking for stuff that is listed in the index quite plainly and/or at the beginning of its own chapter in big bold letters
In either case, it's not You Make Da Call.

Only the actual written rules are protected under copyright, not their meaning/mechanics. It's why the AD&D retroclones haven't been sued into non-existence. In theory, someone could do a clone of 8th edition the same way, though it's doubtful it would ever catch on since so much of the game of WFB ends up being based on the exact wording due to RAWhammer folks.

Actually, it might catch on better than you think IF someone could write the rules set a tad bit tighter than say, GW did!
This isn't a bad idea... for someone with LOTS OF TIME on their hands!

Not perfectly clear. For example, they forgot Monstrous Support rule from both Monstrous Cavalry and Monstrous Beasts. Gladly this was quickly corrected in errata, although many of us would have preferred a rulebook with less mistakes.
