I've played a couple games using diversified nobz squads and have been really happy with them. The idea struck me to try and make a list consisting of all nobz mounted in wagons.

This is really low on model count for an ork list but each squad is protected by a wagon and is very durable on it's own. I've thought about deff wing lists before but I don't like the fact that mega nobz can't get FNP or cybork. I think that the regular nobz' 4+/5++ FNP trumps 2+.

I think this list can be competitive in pickup games but I'd like to here how it can be made better. I'd like to avoid adding in any regular boyz, but would be open to maybe buggies or deffcoptas. Here's the list:

HQ:

2x warboss w/pk, cybork, 'eavy armor, bosspole 210

Elite:

2x 6 nobz all w/ 'eavy armor, cybork 610

1-pk boss pole
1-pk, kombi-skorcha
1-big choppa
1-big choppa, kombi-skorcha
1-big choppa, waaagh! banner
1- painboy

Troops:

2x nobz same as above, except no boss poles since the warbosses will be hanging wit dees gits! 600

Heavy:

4x battlewagons (2 are dedicated, 2 are heavies) w/deff rolla, red paint, armor plates, big shoota 520

This is only 1940 of 2000 points so I have a little wiggle room to add and swap stuff.

As someone that has lots of armor penetrating guns, It wouldn't take much to tackle 4 battlewagons. Pair those guns with some ordinance and you're looking at handfuls of instantly killed nobz. I think the nobz you ran thrived in a mixed list because you made it tough for your opponent to decide what to shoot, and after seeing 40+ dice rolls they chose to go after your boyz squads instead of nobz. Take away that option / cannon fodder, and you give them little choice than to shoot you from orbit.

Ok, based on that advice I am adding some cannon fodder to my list and taking away half of my nobz. I'm also getting an extra wagon squeezed in as well as a KFF to further protect my wagons for the two turns it takes them to deliver my orks into the battle.

HQ:

warboss w/pk, cybork, 'eavy armor, bosspole 105

Big Mek w/KFF 85

Elite:

7 nobz all w/ 'eavy armor, cybork 340 (Mek rides with these guys)

1-pk
1-pk kombi-skorcha
1-big choppa
1-big choppa, kombi-skorcha
1-big choppa, waaagh! banner
1-big choppa, boss pole
1- painboy

Troops:

7 nobz w/ 'eavy armor, cybork 338 (warboss rides with these guys)

1-pk
1-pk kombi-skorcha
1-big choppa
1-big choppa, kombi-skorcha
1-big choppa, waaagh! banner
1-big choppa, ammo runt
1- painboy

3x 20 boyz, 1 nob w/pk and bosspole 480

Heavy:

5x battlewagons (2 are dedicated, 3 are heavies) w/deff rolla, red paint, armor plates, big shoota 650

1998 total points. More bodies, more mech and more durable mech. It's not really what I was thinking but this might be the list I'd bring to a tourney, while the all nobz list I might play in friendlier games.

Second list is a lot lot better than the first but you have zero long ranged anti tank. You only have 8 power klaws up range and 5 of them are split into two units.

Oh, boarding planks on the wagons saves your Boyz getting out.

I actually rechon that you're best sticking with a list similar to the first. Drop a couple of Nobz, drop the warbosses, and pick up ghazzy and a KFF mek. get a small unit of grotz as a second troops choice. With a turn 2 assault, this army could really clean up. Reminds me of a similar list I wrote at 2500, here it is for reference;

Big Mek, kustom force field
Big Mek, Kustom force field, cybork
7 Nobz, 3 big choppas, 2 powerklaws, all cybork, painboy, 3 kombi-skorchas, waagh! banner, bosspole
7 Nobz, 3 big choppas, 2 powerklaws, all cybork, painboy, 3 kombi-skorchas, waagh! banner, bosspole
7 Nobz, 3 big choppas, 2 powerklaws, all cybork, painboy, 3 kombi-skorchas, waagh! banner, bosspole
3 Dedicated battlewagons, kannons, deffrollas, red, armour
30 Boyz, nob w/ powerklaw, bosspole
25 Boyz, nob w/ powerklaw, bosspole
25 Boyz, nob w/ powerklaw, bosspole
3 Killa kanz, grotzookas
3 Killa kanz, grotzookas
3 Killa kanz, grotzookas

This list is pretty vicious... Ranged AT is for fools!

3 Battlewagons will become priority targets and the Kanz will fall behind. You can only get armour when in range and you've got 9 power klaws which 6 are split into 3 units and then the dccw which will have fallen behind, plus no boarding planks so if the deffrolla fails (which puts you in melta range) you're gonna have to get out and smack that tank and whatever is inside will get you next turn.

Ranged fire is needed or else you won't crack tanks very well if you need 4+ or 6+ to hit.

Large ammounts of bikes will provide 4+ cover on the move for the unit behind the bikes as well. Maybe you don't need the KFF? I thought that was part of the joy of bringing way too many bikes.

@tldr: I like the idea of screening with bikes. Hadn't thought of that. Maybe later when I get home I'll go through the codex and try posting a list with a bike screen.

I've seen boarding planks and grot riggers called for by a few of you. Normally I see both an automatic upgrade when taking a BW but just didn't have the points for it. I could drop the kombi-skorchas from each squad for them but then I think my small units will suffer against hordes to much. Also I have a lot of faith in the deff rolla to do the damage needed to pop armor.

I'm not to worried about not having ranged anti-tank. I've played plenty of demons lists with absolutely zero ranged anti-tank, save for breath templates which isn't really very ranged.

Thanks so much for the thoughts and critisisms. I'll try to update again tonight when I get home.
