I've got £50 to spend at GW on Saturday and i'm not sure whether to spend my money on 2 Broadsides and another Crisis commander to improve my Tau army to 2500 or turn my attention to my new chaos army and buy a battleforce. I mainly only use 1500 points worth of Tau in a game anyway but i am planning to use my new units in my 1500 point army as it will greatly improve it, i have 3 broadsides in my 1500 point army but they are £18 each and i may not have enough, i mite get more. For my 1500 point CSM army i am using the marines, bezerkers and rhino for the battleforce and i am not sure whether to buy that instead.

Any suggestions?

Depends on what Chaos units you've already got, the battle force can be good to start off with, but if you've already got the basics then you might just end up with a ton of duplicate stuff.

If you need to Force to even field a respectable chaos army go with that (New armies are always the most fun to buy for!), but I've seen first hand what full Broadside squads can do and, well, ouch.

If brute force isn't the answer, it's only because you aren't using enough of it.

Tau suits and commander.

Some of the special issue gear is quite good, and nice to experiment with.

Broadsides are ok. I personally find Crisis suits to be much more effective but broadsides are good at what they do.

If you are going to get the broadsides, save up and buy the forgeworld ones...2lbs of metal supported by 2mm of plastic is just a bad idea.

I Third this. Hybrid plastic suck! I got three of the buggers and always at least one of those 6 metal railguns are not attached to their following suits

Pin the railguns, it helps immensely, but it's still not 100%. My biggest problem is snapping at the ankles. So much so that I've resorted to gluing the feet plus adding a plastic rod from flight bases to help support the model.

Of course if you get the FW ones, it's not really a problem...and they look about a 100x better than the GW models.

Actually, I've never realized this before, but look at what GW (or 'Eavy Metal as the case may be) has done with that Broadside there.

One railgun is on the top hardpoint and one railgun is on the slanted slot.

This has balanced the mini and kept it from becoming too front-heavy.

And may actually help with keeping the railguns in place.

That's not a bad idea. And it's been sitting under our noses all this time.

yea i would say finish ur tau army to how you want it and then start on the chaos.

also i find it best not to get the battle force and by models individually as it helps personalize your army

I've had a couple that were posed that way. Didn't help much. I just went back to mounting the guns parallel to each other.

Well, dang.

I think the bottom line is they need more than two spindly little ball-socket ankle and two tiny hardpoints to keep these guys together. Maybe they oughta beef up the model a bit - after all, it's not just your average battlesuit.

Then again, it'll probably be some time before the Tau get a new codex (and therefore a new model line), so I may just toss the regular Broadsides I got on order in the trash if they won't stay together and get the FW models (which, admittedly, DO look cooler anyway).
