Hey everyone this is a genral disscusion about everything and anything related to the imperial guard so for example any imperial guard terrain, imperial guard army lists, imperial guard tactics and well you get the point have.

and if you have anything to ask any fellow guard players feel free and let loose with everything imperial related!

I made an imperial guad terrain peice last night out of a whole packet of greenstuff a sorta enplacment for a city poard im going to do!

I make castles and stuff out of foam from a new tv! fun.

I have an IG army, mix of mech and infantry. Love them

We really need a less broad topic. I dont know what to say...i feel naked! *girly scream*

I think, like the SW:TOR forums we should have race specific forums here, that would be cool and helpful and keep haters and random posters out.

Hmmm posibly but it also would be easier for trolls and haters to locate threads if they are set in race categories IMO.

Elysian Drop Troops 1500pts

So I decided to try out an all Infantry Army to see how it would do.

GOD the amount of fire I can put on the board is scary.

1000pts of Vostroyans. Hoping to expand that to 1500 soon, but I don't know if my wallet can take it.

2000 Points of Harakoni Treadhead goodness, coupled with 1000 Points of Super-Heavy extras and an additional 2200 Points worth of Titans.

My 2000 points of guard are mixed mech and infantry, there are a few things I plan on adding 1)PBS and a doom hammer

I'm surprised your wallet got that far! Must be a beautiful army though - Vostroyans are great figs.

I have a combined arms force of Catachans and Cadians. I was going for a recon company theme early on, building up on Sentinels and a Hellhound. However, my FLGS was selling Basilisks for cheap (they ordered too many) and I found a guy on Dakka with a few tanks he wanted to get rid of, so the recon company is a bit more standard these days. Strangely enough I have a hell of a hard time fighting Deathwing with this army though. I don't think I've beaten my Deathwing-playing buddy yet with Guard, although my Orks never had much of a problem.

I had a dream of a Horde Vostroyan army with hordes of platoons charging with their manly mustaches. Reality (the reality of my bank account) soon turned them into a Comapny Command and 3 squads of Veterans, with a Vendetta and Eradicator taking the rest. They do have Carapace Armour though.

Why not take it to the IGMB?

If you're looking for an Imperial Guard only discussion, going to an Imperial Guard specific forum would, I think, be your best bet. There's probably plenty of them out there too, with how popular Guard is.

Brother SRM kind of beat me to this, but that must be a truly beautiful army to behold. Vostroyans have some of the most intricate sculpts in the IG catalogue. I just don't know that I would have the patience to assemble and paint that many metal models.

I'd like to see pictures of you've got'em.

I'm personally still in the planning stages of my Armored Cav regiment, which I'd like to try to steer away from the normal mech lists I see - when I first started playing, I saw nothing but infantry-heavy lists, and decided to go mech to be different.

Now that I see a larger playerbase and what they play, I see a ton of mech IG, and now I don't want to do it anymore.

Is that weird? I dunno.

In any case, I think I want to see how many tanks I can fit into a single list, and avoid infantry altogether (insofar as infantry can be avoided).

Maybe like, two Chimeras with veterans and a Lord Commissar, and the rest tanks.

I dunno. Maybe I'm talking out my ass, and my IG regiment will never happen.

Eh, it's not impossible. I am confused as to whether you are after Air Cav or Mech though. Which do you prefer?

Equality in 40k? Surely you jest, good sir!

If I understand the terms (in regards to how they're used in 40k) "Mech" refers to APCs backed up by a few tanks and possibly some artillery, whereas "Air Cav" refers to lots of Vendettas.

I really don't want either.

I suppose what I want is closest to "mech" as I'd like something along the lines of two Chimeras full of vets, either a Lord Commissar or a CCS with their own Chimera, and the rest filled out with Leman Russes, maybe a Basilisk, a couple of Hellhounds, a squadron of Sentinels, and that's about it.

So, most closely fits a mech build.

But I use the term "Armored Cavalry" which normally refers to tanks and heavy armor, since that's where the emphasis would be.

I do have a small renegade guard army (yeah, yeah, I know this is meant to be an Imperial thread. Consider it corrupted.), and I REALLy want to do a spec. ops guard army sometime in the near future-too much damn Bad Company 2 recently !

Also, on an unrelated note...this is one of my first posts after having been on Dakka more than a year. I wonder if I should do something special?

I have a very mixed bag force right now, but I'm kind of directing it towards a mech or Armored Company-style list with fully mounted infantry and the HS slots taken up by 3 LR variants.

Okay, reconfiguring my Vostroyan Vet list to drop two veteran squads in favour of a power blob. Change will cost me $150 AUS at least.
