both are taken out of Cobra and will just be for friendly games. Most people play out of Cobra and Fortress Europe around here.

Good list choice, But I have a question. How dose it fare against Schwere panzer armies? Sherman vs Tigers have a bad summary in my mind. But I am sure in more competent hands than mine it works like a charm

well i haven't used either list yet. I wanted feed back on how people think about them.

what are "Schwere" panzer armies? is that just an armoured company?

I haven't gone up against a Tiger yet(last game had one, but i never actually went toe to toe)

I know i can't hurt it from the front though.

Scwhwere panzer armies has five + tigers or panters. With some infateri and ligth AA support, Ah well then I wish you good luck, I belive this kinda armies will do well against Panzer grenadier armies, or Falschirmjager armies.

You'll be fine against Tigers. The Armoured Rifle Platoon by itself can handle them in assault rather handily along with artillery to lay smoke down to cover their advance. The 76mm Shermans CAN kill Tigers from the front, although you really want to pick a good position to shoot from as their guns are rather deadly to you. The 75mm Shermans and Stuarts obviously should be going nowhere near the Tigers though.

Your first list is fine, give it a whirl and see how you like it. Your second list is over points, so you're going to need to trim there. Cut the number of Shermans down a bit (or go to all 75mm) to beef up the artillery battery. Alternately, you can replace the 105mm with Armoured Mortars instead.

@ spmusubi : CAN is the key word, but it depend on several factors, such as cover and so on. And if the Tigers happens to be Aceses your screwd when using Shermans no mather loadout, In these situations sheer volume of AT fire is what mathers, therefor get at least three AT guns to support your shermans.

And yes the rifel company can do well, and artiliry is always good. Just remeber to protect them and their spotter. But do keep in mind that your vunerabel to counter artiliry when firing.

And on to your second list, do as the poster above me adviced you to, but dont get more 105mm get mortars instead.

In my limited experience, taking out Tigers is not as tough as it looks on paper.

Keeping the lanes of fire restricted helps greatly. We tend to play with a ton of terrain, and finding a lane that allows full range is rare.

And assaulting with Rifle platoons works great. I don't think any tank in the game is not afraid of infantry assaults.

Well then you are lucky, but it really depends on the skill of those using said Tigers. And well I never let my tanks advance without infatri support just in case a rifel platoon comes along, three MG squads tend to resolve that issue

The locals are an even mix of new kids(who started within the last month) and guys who have been playing for years.

Here is a remake of the 2nd list.

Tank platoon
5 M4 Shermans 450 pts

Tank Platoon
5 M4 Shermans 450 pts

Armored Mortar platoon
2 mortar sections 100 pts

Now this is a list I would dread fighting with my Panzer grenadiers Good amount of tanks, Rifle platoon to support said tanks, and a mortar for anti personnel use or against transports. Armored mortars are nasty to have againt you. But heaven to use/ have on your side. Good work all in all

And if you want to expand it, get more rifle platoons. OR get airborne, they are just incredibly versatile against all targets.

I probably will end up with 1 more Armored Rifle platoon.

What do you guys think about M8 Scotts or M4 105mm Shermans?

Scotts and 105 Shermans are pretty much the same guns as your mortars and 105mm artillery, but they're on armoured platforms. This allows you to roll them up to direct fire targets without having to worry about getting popped by a machine gun or something light. Additionally, you can always leave them in the back and bombard like a normal artillery unit in case your opponent has AT assets in the area. Good for versatility, but you do pay additional points for that ability. They're not also as good as the dedicated arty units (lacking Staff teams and whatnot).

They're good for engaging dug-in infantry and gun emplacements and in a pinch other tanks. Most people I see prefer to go with the regular artillery though, so YMMV.
