Ive been really interested in getting into airbrushing lately. It might have something to do with an interest in breaking into Warhammer Fantasy as well as my ever growing horde of 40k Boyz (Ive determined after the first battleforce that painting rank and file Orks by hand is akin to watching grass grow on the fun-o-meter). Dakka has been a great wealth of information, but there are a couple off target snags Ive hit in my gear collecting

I set aside my fun money for the last month or so and picked up a great condition used 60psi compressor: (http://www.gastmfg.com/pdf/OM/oilless_dia_OM.pdf the DOA model) and a seperate Air regulator with a water catch (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=220645337237&Category=28111&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2). The compressor was important for me since Ive used compressed air cans in the past for other projects and they're typically more trouble then they're worth and can get expensive to boot. Ive selected a Badger 155 Anthem Brush which will be ordered in the next few weeks.

I guess the thing Im having the hardest time finding are the accessories and fittings. I know I need to find a 1/4" x 1/4" Male/Male fitting to get the regulator attached to the compressor, but what are typical hose sizes that I should be looking for?

Ive gathered that 1/4 and 1/8 seem to be the standard sizes for the couplings on the compressor end, but what about the brushes themselves?

Is there anything besides the compressor/regulator/brush/fittings that I'm going to need starting off, and are there any suggestions for convenient online vendors or individual pieces of kit experienced airbrushers have come across? I dont need to piss any cash away (Er, any more then miniature wargaming requires anyways) but if I'm gonna do something its gotta be done right.

Thanks for any suggestions

Badger are usually 1/8", IIRC. Paasche & clones 1/4". I had to track down an adapter for the AB-130 I bought (looks to be a Paasche knock-off). It's worth getting a T-piece if you're planning on having more than one brush. Saves PTFE and effort.

Thanks guys I guess my real fear is that since Im having to buy most of this stuff seperately, I'm going to wind up with the Airbrush arriving and not having the right sized hose/couplings etc to get it going, leading to weeks of band-aide purchases. I do see that the brush set Im planning on getting comes with an Air hose so hopefully that will simplify things

QFT. Awesome Paint job is one of the sites that got me seriously looking at the airbrush. For years I had always written it off an an expensive elitist toy but the more time you spend looking around the more you see how convenient it really is, especially for non MEQ armies with lots of minis in the field. You just cant argue with the results once you get proficient with it. Which I guess can typically be said of about any tool.
