Hey all. I've not played Warmachine in awhile and i keep seeing army lists with really low point values. Did the new edition change all the points? Are all my old units and such not legal anymore? I have 3 small forces that i might like to start playing again and would like to know before i pick up the new book.

All old units are legal, but the point value is different:

Ie - Ironclad is now 7 points

Some older units were tweaked to make better, some were changed to make them not so evil.

Great balancing IMO.

All of the point levels dropped substantially.

The highest pointed model is 13 points, Khador's Behemoth
12 points is about half of the heavy character jacks and beasts.
11 points: Most of the rest of the heavy Character Jacks and beasts, and the Carnivean
10 points: Most factions have a heavy or 2 at 10 points. Some units hit 10 as the high point cost for the full unit (units are now only Max or MIn).
4-9 Points: Most common range of the min to max unit costs, most heavies bottom out at 6 points most lights bottom out at 4 points
1-3 points: Mainly the realm of solos and some oddball units.

Ok, so all i have to do is pick up the new stat cards for my units? Or do i have to download an errata from PP?

Pickup the 2010 card pack for your faction and you'll have all of the updated rules and point costs for your faction (excluding mercs, which come in their own pack).

Thanks for the info. I was confused and thought they had "retired" all my first edition stuff. Time to go pick up a Cygnar, Crix, and Merc deck.

I think the decks were great, you don't necessarily have to buy the faction book since all the rules and info for your units are there.

The only reasons to get the Force Books is for:

1) Theme Lists - each caster gets a theme list that limits your army choices, but gives benefits in exchange.

2) Background stories. Each book has a preface with a couple good stories, and an overview of the military of the faction. Some is cribbed from Superiority, but some is new.

I would get the new rulebook as well as the stat decks, if I were you...

Make sure the deck you get has the year 2010 on the front of it. Otherwise, they are selling old
"MK2" cards from Mk1 (yeah, I know)
