Hey guys, some of you may be aware wargames factory released their suspiciously Guard looking greatcoat range recently, I just built a few and noted down my impression/size comparisons on my blog for those that are interested.

Very nice.

I love how you stuck the lasgun end on the barrel of the greatcoat gun and instantly got lasgun.

Thanks for taking the time to put that together.

The models you posted look great.

I think the addition of the GW components and bits from other companies really sells them. Straight out of the box I'm not all that excited, but with some lasguns and say Pig iron (or similar) heads they come into their own.

Good stuff.

Nice little review.
Does plastic/poly cement work on the plastic they used?

Y'know, they actually look decent when when you put cadian arms on them, not bad at all.

Those pictures and conversions have changed my mind a wee bit about them. They don't look that gakky any more. I agree, a head swap and arm swap seems to do a lot of good. Not to mention cutting up those gakky rifle designs into something more conventional and normal.

I like the pig iron heads and have ordered from them in the past, but I actually like the wargames factory heads better. I have not seen one in the flesh but on the screen they look pretty good.

I was talking about the heads featured on the wargames factory website that sell with the greatcoat shock troops.

The price is great too, but it's coupled with the fact that you'd have to buy all the weapon bits you need to convert.

It does cast them in a better light, but that is a bit of a ways to go to get them to a good place.

And, yes, thanks for the pics!

I don't see it as much different then people buying all the expensive FW, and aftermarket bits (maxmini, and the other people profiting off of GW's IP) to bling out and customize their SM models.

If it is your chosen army and you are the type of gamer/modeler that wants unique looking models you will take the time/effort and spend the money to get the models to look the way you want them.

Not to mention that even with the Cadian bits and alt. heads they are still probably cheaper then some GW figs...

Grah, why don't they sell those grenade launchers as their own bit? I would love those.

Also, @ CT Gamer...

There's a difference between the SM/Cadian models and getting aftermarket bits to pretty them up...and actually needing those parts to not make them look woeful in someone's eyes. That's what Alpharius was meaning.
