Can they be used? There's something about the wording of "special" characters vs named characters that brought about a discussion this evening.

I would assume so, as I've seen many people making lists with Khalida in them.

There are no rules in the BRB prohibiting the use of special characters.

THis means that in pick up games people can refuse to play you if you use SCs. Howevergiven they can do this because a) you play TK b) they hate your paint scheme; c) etc ..... it doesnt really matter.

In tournaments, like all tournaments, the TO will say.

More so than in 40k fantasy players seem to have a lingering dislike for SCs. There was a time when they were hugely imbalanced (Thorek being a culprit there) for their points which didnt help their popularity.
