This has just recently come up in a game. A mawloc mishaps and a 3-4 is rolled. Is it possible to place the mawloc over the persons own models and use its own blast on those units??

A Misplaced! result does not allow you to deploy a unit in impassable terrain, which includes friendly and enemy models.

Was just wondering since the faq stated the mawloc can be placed on models to use terror of the deep. We played it that he couldn't because he is being deployed in a mishap result not deepstruck.

Strict RAW, I think the above probably have it right. However, as a Nid player, I wouldn't object to someone dropping it back on my own troops as I look at it as just a risk of using that particular attack too close to impassable terrain or the table edge.

That's because the Deep Strike rules let you. The Deep Strike Mishap rules are different.
