Food for a Giant Fenrisian Wolf

So a friend of mine is starting 40k soon and he has chosen to play nids. I wanted to get him something for his new army because his birthday is coming up but have no idea what i should get. He chose them partly because we don't have a nid payer in my play group so i obviously don't fight them an awful lot. He said he was gonna get the starter box and a hive tyrant to start with. I was thinking of getting him the Mawloc/Trygon box but really have no idea if either of them are any good. Would just more warriors be a good idea instead? Maybe Zoanthropes? Thanks

Not a nid player, but I think new guys appreciate coolness factors from units like the Trygon. My first thought though was carnifex.

If it was me, I'd definitely get him some form of plastic kit, preferably something he doesn't already have. I have no idea how good they are in the game, but looking at the GW website they've apparently released plastic Gargoyles and Raveners too.

In game terms, Gargoyles are fantastic. But if he is starting out with a battleforce and a hive tyrant, he will either want more troops, or a zoanthrope/MC to deal with tanks.
Trygon is a pretty good idea. It is a great unit and makes a great centrepiece for the entire army.
