So I'm fairly new to Warhammer (for the second time), and I'm on a fixed income at the moment. I picked up about 1,500 points of Orks, minus the actual models of the Trukks and Battlewagons.

However, I did measure the dimensions for the two aforementioned vehicles and made LEGO replicas. I painted them Chaos Black, and added tons of Orky bits to make them, well, Orky.

I know this wouldn't fly in an official game at a GW retailer, but how about hobby shop people? If the rest of my army is tip top wysiwyg, and the vehicles are orky and primed, would that be a problem?

Generally most people would be understanding and allow it. I mean after all its build with effort and not a plain shoe box! ( If its inside GW bunker , then im not too sure )

They'll probably prod you to buy an actual model of it soon or eventually.

Hell, I'd play ya with that proxy, if just to see what it looks like.
You should get a real version of the model eventually, but if any of your opponents don't think it's Kosher, I wouldn't play against them anyway.

Since you have all the other models, no problem. I wouldn't have any problems.
Are they shaped properly, or are they like cubes,lol? If they were cubes, you could actually fir the models in them

Just the THOUGHT of a non-GW model on the table makes my eye twitch. I can't handle the thought of unpainted models! Good gods, man, what are you thinking?

Seriously, I wish the entire hobby was more accepting of unofficial models, particularly for Guard, Orks, and Tau mercenaries.

I think it's a great idea, and would love to see some pics if you can post them.

Proxies are fine as long as they aren't confusing.

Also the good thing about Orks is that you could go get a cheap toy truck and fix it up, then you will have something unique and won't need to actually buy the GW one.

Seriously though, this sounds like a pretty cool way to get a unique model on the table. I know I would be fine with it, and depending on the situation I could easily see a GW store being OK with it too. Can you get us some pics? I'd like to see it!

you should put some pics up of that man. Id love to see what it looks like. But yea, id say you'd be fine to play in any game I was running or playing in. Not all of us are millionaires.

You put some effort into it, I wouldn't bust your balls over it. I played against a Necron guy who's Monolith was a bunch of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards taped together in a rough approximation of a Monolith's shape. I didn't let that one fly for obvious reasons.

Lego proxy's would be fine with me. although the thought of you painting your LEGO brought a tear to the corner of my eye, then a knife to my hand.

I actually spray painted it (sorry for the confusion) with full plans to paint it/transfer some logos on.

If I get around to it I can post pics! It's black with smooth edges, tank treads, and Ork bits; it's not jagged or cubed.

And I do plan on getting the true models very soon.

The answer is you are ok as long as the people you play with aren't dicks. Tournies prob won't allow.

You should just download models and build them out of paper then. Most of my IG are paper tanks. Left me the money to buy DKoK models.
