Hey, I'm making a IG Special Ops themed army, and i want to face my cousin (I've never one against him, mostly ending up in ties.) and now he's making an Angry Marines Army ( Think Blood Angels but Very Very angry and vulgar) Any tips would be useful

I play Angry Marines, my experimental Metal Marines, Ultramarines, Orks, Blood Angels, Necrons, Eldar, Tau, and Spec Ops IG
Im planning to also play Mordian Iron Guard, Daemons, and Chaos and Mercenary IG

That fandex

Plasma weapons, Melta weapons, Missle Launchers and maybe some Lascannons if you feel like it for starters.

Plasma for infantry on foot with Melta backup for transports. As for the Lascanons, it's usually better to have a Missile Launcher instead as you get the option of using the blast template instead, but I guess this one could be left up to personal preference.

Don't make them all Plasma or all Melta though, do both in the same squad to make them more flexible.

Now you just have to wait for an IG player to show up and help even more

Well, to keep with the special ops theme, im guessing that means few, elite infantry and very little vehicles.

-consider psycher battle squad(s) combined with snipers or light artillery

-outflanking scout walkers, valks/vendettas, master of the fleet/astronomer can give the feeling of an ambush, also helps against deep striking blood angesl

makes sure you focus your firepower on one unit at a time until they are dust.

For your HS choices if you are leaning toward LR's then take the LRBT. The stock loadout (HB or HF depending on how assault happy they are) for that chews up Tac Marine squads and makes sure that as long as he is in front of you and not assaulting you don't have to worry about most of them. It will also save you a few points compared to other variants which may come in handy.

If I remember this fandex properly then your cousin will have access to a lot of drop pod stuff, look up "Castling" for your deployment and just try to keep that basic formation on the board.

Point for point the ML beats out the LC IMO, this is because if you find the dice working against you then you can switch from krak to frag\frag to krak as you please.

Melta is important as always with the guard. I wouldn't really bother with Flammers outside of any Tarpit squads you might be running, GL's will serve you better.

I've always wanted to try out a Banewolf with a Multi-melta in a scenario like this. But I can tell you that the Hellhound does well enough on it's own though.

If you happen to have room for mortars then they can do a fair job at pinning his devistator squad. It doesn't matter that they may not kill, as long as the DS is pinned then those are heavy points that he can't use because of a cheap squad that doesn't even have to use LOS.

These are random things off the top of my head. Without knowing what your core army consists of and how many points you are using. It's hard to say what you should bring.

First three things I think when taking on Meq as guard.

1. The Leman Russ Battle Cannon makes a mockery of anything and everything in power armor.

2. Deploy your troops in long rows. You will get cover saves. He will get armor saves.

3. Officer of the Fleet. You can't win with no models on the board.

There's just an acre of you fellas, isn't there?

I don't think that melta is the best for anti transport. By it's nature, melta is short ranged, and when your close enough to use in transpires, they have already done their job of transporting marines in your face.
It's better to use ACs, LC, MLs, and scatter lasers for that job.
For cracking heavy armor like LRs, melta is king.

For infantry, plasma is death for marines. Battle cannons wipe squads at a time,

Plasma guns

Attempts by Company Commanders to call down close-ranged artillery fire can result in disastrous casualties amongst the Imperial Guard. Whilst the loss of life is regrettable, the waste of ammunition is INTOLERABLE!

I guess the use of ACs, LCs, And MLs are very useful, so i will imploy them with my vets...I still will only put very few METAL BAWKES on to the field, and Ill use Sentinals for most of my so called "armor"...any anti SM tactics for Sentinals?
