Subject: New Avatars of War Plastic Regiments!

In the forum of Avatars of War, Felix Paniagua (main sculptor and creator of AoW) has said the following:
link to the AoW forum: http://arena-deathmatch.com/forums/v....php?f=9&t=732
Quote
We are now sculpting the 3ups for the first AoW plastic regiment sets!
[...]
I am sorry I can't say right now which is the first race we are working on. Creating plastic minis means a pretty big investment (at least for AoW), so we have to be careful and not unveil which minis are we working on until we are much closer to release date.
What I can say though is that the plastic sets will be boxed, containing multi-component plastic frames (high-impact polystyrene, same as Perrys, GW or Mantic) to put together 16 or more troopers (depending on the type of regiment). All that together with the style and look that characterizes AoW miniatures!
The same announcement is in the spanish forum of this brand as well:
http://www.arena-deathmatch.com/foro...php?f=12&t=188
So, more plastic love!

Pretty interesting, here's hoping for some Dark Elf spearmen!

Yup 404 not found, I think your quote broke them.
since the url I get is http://arena-deathmatch.com/forums/v....php?f=9&t=732 with the dots included. I'll browse their forums a bit to try and find it.

With the quality of their range these miniatures should be awesome.

Part of me is concerned. Remember that Avatars of War primarily existed to provide heroes for Warhammer Fantasy. Heroes are often different enough from each other to avoid looking like GW's own line, however Regiments are a different matter all together. The question is; will they evolve from being a cookie cutter GW knock off company and come up with their own stuff. Will they become Mantic or will they become Gamezone.

Really? So why does he have... ya know... his own rulebook? I think that the similarities make them fit into a nice niche as he grows his own system, but I don't honestly think he was marketing them specifically as WHFB heroes.

Try this link: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/308218.page
This is where we at Dakka are discussing it since yesterday, before the quoted thread on Warseer appeared
But to be fair, it was discussed in the Warseer O&G thread before.

He may not have been marketing them directly like that, but that was certainly the 'secret hope' of it all, I'd think! How many of his figures do you think made it into WFB armies vs. being used in his own system?

Most. But really, it's a little sad to say he made them FOR WHFB. And I think disingenuous.
