Hey all. im planning on buying WoC as the title says. Since im going to be on a strict budget Im going to start with two starter boxes then work my way up. How many points can you make out of the starter box?
Keep in mind I dont need individual points value on the units just a general idea. Also my marauders have flails as ive heard those are what to go with this addition.

Well I bought the Lord on daemonic mount and a battleforce and I am at a strong 1000 points.
And honestly it is a awesome start, but going from 40k to fantasy is... weird if that makes sense.

I've sold so many armies. :(
Aeldari 3kpts
Slaves to Darkness.3k
Word Bearers 2500k
Daemons of Chaos

Sorceror Lord: Mark Of Tzeentch, Level 4, Infernal Puppet
12 Warriors: Full Command, Mark of Khorne, Shields
12 Warriors: Full Command, Mark of Khorne, Shields
20 Marauders: Full Command, Mark of Khorne, Great Weapons, Light armor
20 Marauders: Full Command, Mark of Khorne, Great Weapons, Light armor
10 Warhounds
10 Warhounds
10 Chaos Knights: Mark Of Tzeentch, Full Command, Banner of Rage
Total: 1794 pts. For the cost of two Battalions and the Sorceror model. Not bad at all.

Better off with the additional hand weapon - no parry save for frenzied models. I'd actually recommend the halberd, but that's a bit more of a modeling challenge.
Working with the Battalion box is a good idea, but from a pure budget POV - go with Warriors. At over 200 points per box - WOC would be the best way of extending your dollars.

The only other army that can stretch money like WoC is Ogres.
Modeling halberds isn't that difficult if they give you the spears for the knights you just have to cut them at the wrist or cut the spear in half and reglue it to the regular WoC arm.

I'm starting that army right now as well, and the advice I've been given is that warriors with the extra hand weapon and the Mark of Khorne will get tons of attacks, which will balance out any strength benefit of halberds, and eat through the hordes that are so popular because of the steadfast rule.
That's how I'm doing my warriors... if that's any help.

Its debatable, the benefit to halberds is the extra AP, so against low T bad Armor your right, but against things like other Chaos Warriors, Dwarves and Lizards halberds become more useful.

Make sure you get something that has movement. Shooting and fast mving opponenets will have you spinning in circles. Or moving so slowly that by the time you get there it is not worth it.

Is that still valid advice for 8th? Its harder to march block, units have longer charge ranges and its going to be very hard to score VP (100% kill) with just shooting. One or two units, perhaps a spawn or a chariot, might be enough to keep your back field clear.
