My wonderful children, daughter 7, son 11, decided that they would like to make some terrain. With a bit of supervision from myself and the wife, this is what they came up with! After a visit to a local FLGS, they hit me with the question of selling terrain like this. They REALLY had a good time making it and thought that selling some would be a good way to finance their budding gaming adiction. So my question is, what's it worth?

Thanks for looking!

I think a badab black ink wash on the brown would really make all of the difference, but I think they don't look that bad.

Atleast 7 USD is what I think they are worth..maybe more for the larger pieces.

It looks really nice for a scratchbuild, but I don't know if I'd buy it. It's made out of insulator foam and rocks from the garden, right? I'd be way too afraid that the foam would be really brittle and just crumble with serious use.

I mean, it looks really nice now, but how nice will it look after it's been put in and taken out of a bin a hundred times?

It's actually made from Gorilla Glue and lava rocks. Hit it with a coat of matte spray afterward and it's dang near indestructable, believe it or not. I've got quite a few pieces made the same way, that have survived a lot better than the blueboard stuff.

I'm horrible with pricing, but the lava rocks were a good idea, makes everything light weight. And for the ages your children, its damn good. Next you should do ruins of buildings, use that foam board you can get at a grocery store thats used for presentations. My daughter had a project for school, and she had to build a monestary, we used that foam board, water affects, and wall texture you get in a spray can. Wish I had a picture, it turned out pretty cool

I really think you need a black wash over the op but I would pay about $15 for them.

Have to agree with the chorus of 'wash' comments here - that really would make them that much nicer!

I agree that they could use a wash, but I would be prepared to pay maybe £7 for a pack of 3.

It's probably pretty easy to put together and for the learning experience for your kids, you might think about $5 per piece of $12 for a set of 3 and a deeper discount for $20.

Well aren't you a friendly one.

I see stuff like this go for about $15 at conventions. That's about the right price point.

Given the size , the amount of pieces , the flocks , painting etc etc , i would say atleast $25 for them.

But i think the weird orange sort of lowers the value , it just doesnt look too good.

Also the worth might go up if you leave more flat areas so miniatures can be on them like mini hills.

It's a neat effect, but I'm with lunahound on the color. Maybe if you painted it more green instead of the brown/orange?

If I needed terrain and wasn't a scratchbuilding nut myself I would probably pay $10 for two of the larger ones.

I LOVE the idea though! Great way to teach your kids entrepreneurship and get them into the hobby.

They painted the 'orange' parts with beastial brown and then drybrushed that with snakebite leather. I guess the flash did make them look kind of orangey(?). LOL!! They look really good in person and the colors could be varied, depending on your gaming table. They look GREAT on ours! Thanks for all of the comments and advice, the kids are stoked! They want to start selling these things like Girl Scout cookies! LOL!!!
