Subject: Ork 2000 Pt FUN Army

I am very new to Warhammer (my boyfriend just started gathering and Ork army himself and got me interested), and after reading the Ork Codex and various forums I have tentatively written my 2k point list.
What I am looking for: I want it to be fun to play - I care more about enjoying the game than having the most competitive army. I love random "chance" and variety which is why I picked the SAG and Burna Boyz (who wouldn't love to have flame throwers!).
I would appreciate feedback from more experienced players in regards to which upgrades should be dropped/added (such as boarding planks) and any suggestions for making the army more "fun".
Thanks!
HQ:
1 Big Mek, SAG (standing with Grots)
1 Big Mek, KFF, Burna (in Battlewagon with Burna Boyz)
Fast:
2 Warbuggies, Twin-linked rokkit launcha
1 Deffkopta, Buzzsaw, Twin-linked rokkit launcha
Elites:
13 Lootas
12 Burna Boyz
9 Nobz with Cybork (all different for wounds): 2 Big Choppa, 3 PK, 1 Painboy, 1 Waaugh! Banner, 1 Boss Pole, 4 Kombi-Rokkit, 2 Ammo Runts
Troops:
11 Ork Boyz, 1 nobz, PK, Boss Pole
11 Ork Boyz, 1 nobz, PK, Boss Pole
11 Ork Boyz, 1 nobz, PK, Boss Pole
18 Gretchin, 1 Runtherd (standing on an objective)
18 Gretchin, 1 Runtherd (accompanying Mek with SAG)
Dedicated Transport:
Trukk, Boarding Plank, Red Paint, Reinforced Ram (carrying Boyz)
Trukk, Boarding Plank, Red Paint, Reinforced Ram (carrying Boyz)
Trukk, Boarding Plank, Red Paint, Reinforced Ram (carrying Boyz)
Heavy Support:
Battlewagon, Deff Rolla, Armor, Boarding Planks, Red Paint, Grab'in Klaw, Big Shoota (Carrying Burna Boyz)
Battlewagon, Deff Rolla, Grot Riggers, Armor, Boarding Planks, Red Paint, Grab'in Klaw, Big Shoota (carrying Nobz)
= 2000 Points Exactly!
Changes made: No cybork for Meks, added Deffkopta, eliminated 1 Nobz, added some ammo runts, added reinforced rams to Trukks, eliminated killakannon, 2 Big Shootas, and 1 grot rigger (since a Mek rides inside).
Oops! Forgot the TL rokkits for the deffkopta... eliminated an ammo runt and got it
*updated list 8/4

Thanks for the encouragement - so far I love the Orks!
I guess my biggest question is whether to add Grab'in Klaw's to the Battlewagons - they look cool but are they ever an advantage? Would it be better to paint the Trukks or Warbuggies red instead for the points?

I think the fun bits on these Battlewagons are the Deff Rolla, Grot Riggers, Red Paint, Boarding Planks and Grabbing Claws – Id drop the Kill cannon, plates and one big shoota from each
For me – I never thought Lootas were fun – tankbustas with squighounds – now that’s fun!

I did consider the Tankbustas - those squiggs look awesome... would you put Tankbustas in a Trukk or Battlewagon?
I also eyed the Killakans but they don't seem to fit into a fast moving army.
The Killakannon is a lot of points that I could spend on additional models - I might drop it. Thanks for the advice.

Your list is rather good for a fun list! You dont need Grot riggerss on the Battlewagons (or on 1 at least) as the Mek can do the same thing with his Mek tools. Must resist the urge to powerfix....arg, uff Resisted! Tankbustaz have to go in a Battlewagon as they don't get a Trukk as dedicated transport unfortunately. Otherwise they are very amusing, having to chase vehicles when in obvious peril of near by units, unleashing the squigs or when sticking a Battlewagon in front of them so they cant "see" the enemy vehicle and attack a unit that you choose. For shear random fun you can't beat a warphead or old zogwort. Random heads exploding or transforming Marneus Calgar to a squig is awesome. Finaly word: Nobz are great fun for you but not so for your opponent and can cause a lot of frustration

Yeah it was hard to resist taking every "fun" model (Orks have a lot of them!) but I figured it would not be a lot of fun to get stomped on... For my 500 point list I am planning on adding a Warphead.
I fixed the Grot rigger, got rid of the Killkannon, and added some red paint. My "updated" list is as follows:
HQ:
1 Big Mek, SAG, Cybork Body (standing with Grots)
1 Big Mek, KFF, Burna, Cybork Body (in Battlewagon with Burna Boyz)
Fast:
2 Warbuggies, Twin-linked rokkit launcha
Elites:
13 Lootas
12 Burna Boyz
10 Nobz with Cybork (all different for wounds): 3 Big Choppa, 3 PK, 1 Painboy, 1 Waaugh! Banner, 1 Boss Pole, 3 Kombi-Rokkit, 1 Ammo Runt
Troops:
11 Ork Boyz, 1 nobz, PK, Boss Pole
11 Ork Boyz, 1 nobz, PK, Boss Pole
11 Ork Boyz, 1 nobz, PK, Boss Pole
18 Gretchin, 1 Runtherd (standing on an objective)
18 Gretchin, 1 Runtherd (accompanying Mek with SAG)
Dedicated Transport:
Trukk, Boarding Plank, Red Paint (carrying Boyz)
Trukk, Boarding Plank, Red Paint (carrying Boyz)
Trukk, Boarding Plank, Red Paint (carrying Boyz)
Heavy Support:
Battlewagon, Deff Rolla, Armor, Boarding Planks, Red Paint, Big Shoota, Grab'in Klaw (Carrying Burna Boyz)
Battlewagon, Deff Rolla, Grot Riggers, Armor, Boarding Planks, Red Paint, Big Shoota, Grab'in Klaw (carrying Nobz)
43 Points left over... could get another Warbuggie or max out the Lootas or Burna Boyz. Any suggestions?

AHA! So we are tweaking a little bit! Ok Here goes! Get reinforced rams for your trukks. They will cross DT alot in the game and losing one to an immobilised result really sucks. In addition they will now be able to ram other transports with a good chance of success. (-15 points) Drop the Cybork from the Meks. The SAG one has a plethora of Grots to soak up wounds, and the other one should stay in the wagon. If he gets disembarked he hitches a new ride to keep that KFF where it is needed (+20 points) Grabing Klaws I am leaning towards no. They are too situational and Lootas are a much more reliable sollution. (+10) Now you have 58 points to spend. 1 Warbuggy, 1 loota and 8 points left (You could get 2 ammo runts for your SAG, get a Rocket launcha on a trukk and 1 ammo runt for yous SAG, or say drop 3 Grots and get 1 moar lootaaa or a burna.) HAve fun!!

Ok so I added 3 reinforced rams for the Trukks, took away the Cybork and added a Warbuggie and I still have 13 points left.
I'm on the fence with the Grab'in Klaws - they look very cool but I may dump them since they are situational.
How useful are ammo runts? I could get several ammo runts or get rid of 1 grot for another Burna or Loota.
Thanks for the feedback!

ammo runts aren't terrificly uselfull. On the SAG they will let you reroll a bad scatter dice so they might add up to something. Definitely dont get morre than 2

One of my personal preferences is sticking a warphead in a big group of boyz, nothing funnier then deepstriking 30 boys with 'ere we go and watching faces drop. Chances of extra WAAAghs! and extra attacks. Personal preference but I like there random orkiness can be really good or really bad...but always fun.

.. till they realise that you have a footprint the size of a landraider and a half and that there is nowhere to drop them without them scattering off into the warp

Like I said in my op I am new to Warhammer but my experience in other games has been that if I go into it planning to have fun, shockingly I do! I don't have to win all of the time but having at least a 50/50 split would be nice.
And I searched various posts and forums about the ammo runts and from what I gathered you can only take one ammo runt per model and they can only be used once for a re-roll to hit, thus you can re-roll a scatter die but not to re-roll the strength die for a SAG. Is that correct?
Oh and as for the meganobz suggestion - those are very cool models but expensive as $%#! I briefly considered getting a full group of them with a Warphead... and then priced them out. I might try them in the future but for now I figured that even if I hate the lootas at least my bf could use them in his army.
Assuming that is correct I plan to take a couple ammo runts just for the Nobz for the combi-rokkits. I am still tweaking the last 50 points or so. Honestly it might boil down to what I feel like painting more of. Hmmm and my bf just won a huge lot of deffkoptas so I am tempted to grab one.

I dunno,
Have you ever seen a players face when you roll a dice get a 5 or a six and announce that your squad of 15 lootas are going to fire 45 shots at that infantry unit!!!
As for Deffkoptas Pinkpaw they are bundles of fun. I run 2 seperate Deffkoptas with Rokkits and Buzzsaw. They cause chaos on the first turn. Sometimes they do something and sometimes they don't but thats the orky way.

As a tactical note - you could use those Gretchin to provide cover saves to those Lootas AS WELL AS provide something they have to shoot at besides the SAG AS WELL AS holding your home field OBJ.
Id add one more of the little buggers to each mob and call it done.

I would honestly say that a lone deffkopta is wasted just having rokkits. Although it is TL you are still firing 1 shot and needing a 5 to hit. If you can trim points I would say get the buzzsaw as well or leave it out. With a buzzsaw they are my prefered choice to warbuggies.
