Hey
Me and my room yhave been playing DOW for a while we played the first one and winter assault on LAN with no problems, now we have dark crusade and neither of us can see each other on the LAN lobby.
Anyone had a similar problem, help would me muchly appreciated.

I also play DC and have the same problems , do you get sync errors when you enter into a online game ?

Also are either of you running mods with DC , with my experience if you are running a mod when playing online you will only be able to play with other people who are running the same mod as you , if you are running mods try to make sure that you both either are running the same mod or are both running the actual Dark crusade game.

I dont know what else could be causing this problem as i am not in massive knowledge about the way DC runs online.

Hope this helps a little.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

One of you figure out your IP address and try direct joining. If you don't know how to look up your IP, tell me your OS and I'll give you a quick step through.

One of you select 'Direct Host' and set up your game normally, then the other person selects 'Direct Join' and puts in the host's IP.

I get the same empty lobby you're describing when I try to play Soulstorm wirelessly with one of my mates, but this always works.

Surely we'd both have the same IP ?
It's from the same router because we're just trying to LAN.
Also what's an OS, ha!

To Undead - I got the 1.1 and 1.2 patches, but that was just to make online work, surely that shouldn't afftect the LAN?

No they wouldent affect the LAN , i was talking about mods like , Firestorm over kronus , witch hunters mod , TTRU mod , basically the mods you download to enhance gameplay , if you do not have any mods there is no reason why the LAN should not work , i think as Arctik_Firangi says it would be best to find the ip and then the main user try to connect to the other.

No, ideally you won't have the same IP.

By OS I meant operating system, sorry about the acronyms... Basically what version of Windows? XP? Vista? Seven?

EDIT:
All the kids have Vista/Seven these days I guess so I'll give ya that one...

1> Go into your control panel and open the Network and Sharing Centre.
2> Find the network you'll be using below the network map (there is probably only the one, if not, pull out the ethernet cable on one end and see which one you lose that's the one you want), it will probably be called something like 'Network 1' and say 'Local Area Connection'.
3> Click 'View Status', to the right of 'Local Area Connection'
4> In the dialog that opens, click the 'Details' button
5> Your IP will be four 1-3 digit numbers seperated by dots in the 'IPv4 IP Address' field, for example 192.168.1.1

You'll only need to know one person's IP - this person will be hosting the game, and once it is set up, the other player will go thru 'Direct Join' and enter the IP when prompted.

Hopefully works for ya.

Hey Arctik, I tried your step by step and well couldn't find most of it. Also my step brother is on XP and I'm on 7, we've never had this probem on older versions of DOW just this one.

It's not incredibly hard to find out how to find your IP on your own initiative, don't wait for me to guide you through it...

But since you can't do it the easy way, we'll do it the REALLY easy way.

Open your Start menu on Windows 7 and type 'cmd' into the search bar. (ignore apostrophes)

Run cmd.exe, which will probably be the only result of the search.

In the command prompt that opens, type 'ipconfig'. (ignore apostrophes)

Scroll up to the IPv4 value for 'Ethernet Adaptor Local Area Connection'. This is your Local Area Network IP.

You can do the exact same through XP by going Start > Run > cmd.exe to open the command prompt.
