It's been just about a year since the launch of Malifaux. The D6G team was happy to sit down with Eric Johns, the big cheese over at Wyrd Miniatures to discuss how the game did in year one, and what the new hotness is in the latest book and releases for the Malifaux miniature game.

Later Raef and Russ take advantage of Craig being distracted with a new son to discuss video games. With a focus on the recently released Starcraft 2 they examine what makes these games appealing.

All that and our other not-too-horrible segments including:

- Rapid Fire

- The Hollywood Minute

- The News

- Total Fan Girl

- & More

I'm trying really hard to wait and listen to this. We are going to burn it to CD for the 7 hour drive up to Indianapolis tomorrow. If it's even possible for us to get more jazzed up about GenCon or Malifaux, this will do it.

Above all: Congratulations Craig!

I'll be interested in hearing more about your impressions of SCII story-wise once you get deeper into it. I can handle RTS in single player, but having been traumatized by many, many zerg rushes by my friends in high school, I haven't bothered playing multiplayer for over 10 years.

Great show guys! Congrats Craig.

The interview with Eric was really informative. It's great when companies can actually give info during an interview.

Another great episode.

The Starcraft II segment was very good -- I really enjoy RTS games for the first few basic missions and then I find that keeping track of too many things stops being fun and being a chore (but I really do enjoy it until that threshold is reached). Is there a demo for SC II or do I have to buy it and find out if I like it that way.

And a question for Raef about his helicopters -- do you think the main rotor is quite secure once you have it assembled? I have glued together my helicopters and glued together the rotor assembly (which I think was a bit to fiddly) but I fear that once I glue the rotor on it is just going to break off at the slightest knock (which is likely to happen since the rotor sticks out so far).

"He's a fluff-gamer, not a power gamer. But he's also a power gamer, so don't get any ideas!" - Brilliant new spot - love it!

Congrats, Craig on the baby gamer.

Another great show.

(From the front porch rocking chair, cane raised in disappointment.) "Curse you Twitter. The reckoning is coming. Your effect on the de-evolution of man will bear you into the appropriate depth to where all such things go!" or, no Deathwatch for us anti-Twitter folk. (Sigh)

Congratulations on your son, Craig.

Malifaux AND Starcraft 2 in one eppisode?? God bless you Russ

Interesting note:
I've been a 40k/GW Zealot throughout my 15yr Table Top gaming career, but through listening to your podcasts constant talk of Malifaux, you've eventually broken my iron resolve with your review bonanza at ep. 50... Later today I'm joining a gaming club who will be demo'ing the game to me before I splash the cash

P.S
Congratulatulations Craig and Mrs. Craig on the new arrival!

Howdy folks,

Thanks for all the kind words.

If you are anti-twitter but would like to see the pics we took at Gencon, you can check 'em out here:

(reverse chronological order)

Also, I've just posted a bonus episode with interviews with some of the fun, smaller companies at GenCon:

Checkin out the pics now.

It's seems to be a little late, but I wanted to say that the RPG Hollywood minutes were easily my favorite Hollywood minutes and I don't think they were effort wasted. To be brutally honost, I kind of tuned out for a lot of the older segments.

Just listened to the GenCon bonus interview show. LOVED IT! I really hope you can get a full interview with Mantic Games because I'd love to hear more about the company and how they got started. I haven't liked a lot of the models they've put out so far, but I really like what they're trying to do and want them to do well. Are there pics from all the segments on the twitter feed? I'm at work so can't check right now, but I'd really like to see some of the things that were talked about.

Great Gen Con coverage. Thank you for the excellent updates and interviews. I certainly appreciate you taking time out of your trip to do leg work for the show.

As far as the HD RPG segments, i thought they were pretty cool. If you are getting bored, why not make it every other show? Less potential for burnout.

I would also like to hear more from Mantic games -- I had never heard of them before and I think I will be ordering some of their figures in the not too distant future.

Hey Guys:

Thanks for the positive feedback on DnD by podcast. I am hankering to finish another segment. I like the idea of everyother. I did get a bunch of positive feedback from emails too. I just wanted to make sure it was not grating on everyone's nerves. Like this voice in my head "Oh, alright already, go get a real dnd game and stop boring us with your useless dnd drivel" :0)

Getting ready to podcast the GenCon after show. Strap it On!!

Hey fellas - when's the next episode scheduled to be available? I'm heading off to vacation in a day or two and likely will be internet-free for a week, I was hoping to download it before I go. My guess is I'll probably have to wait until I get home...

Just finished listening to the Malifaux interview and you guys have got me completely hooked on this game (and plenty of others, I might add).

Keep up the awesome work, listening to you guys is like hanging out with my best gaming pals from the last twenty something years.

Raef, I gotta say I picked up "Warlock on Firetop Mountain" today and I think it is because of your experiment on the show. It's a refershing take on the choose your own adventure. I like it!

Craig, huge congratulations on your son. I'm about your guys age and have a little daughter twenty months old. The little ones are amazing.

Russ, feel like I'm leaving you out but I'm sure your having a blast a GenCon and won't even read this...

Thanks again, guys. I'll write you up an appreciative email, sometime soon.

Normally it would be up tonight. There is still a decent chance. There's a lot of post-production stuff to do on this one because of the background noise from GenCon. So if it isn't up tonight it will be on Wednesday.

Can't wait to hear the new episode. It was fun doing the play by mob at Gencon.

Malifaux has been showing up on hobby store shelves here in CT. It's great to see that Wyrd is starting to catch on and grab some shelf space from the more mainstream games. I need to finish painting my Nicodem Resurrectionist crew.
