Looking at my calendar, I just realized that it's only about 2.5 weeks until Baltimore Games Day.

Any other Dakkites heading down that way this year? I know a couple including myself who're going, but it'd be interesting to see who else is going and have a mini-Dakka meet-up down there.

I envy you your ability to casually notice that games day is coming up.

Every 37 seconds my internal clock goes off and says "Shouldn't you be painting something? What about starting the interior sections? What are you putting all this crap into? Who was painting the grotz?!! OMG, we lost the grotz!!

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Hi, I'm planning on going there myself (sorry to hyjack the thread slightly) and this'll be my first time at a gamesday event. What kind of things could I expect to see there?

@mikhaila - well, whose fault is it for deciding to make a kick-ass display? . Incidentally, I'll definitely be making my way over to see the finished product. After seeing the Minas Tirith display at Showcase last month, I'm looking forward to this year's display. ::

That Minas Tirith display was incredible, I'm looking forward to seeing how the heck you plan to top it! I won't be running a table this year, so I'll actually be able to wander around.

I'll be there! I may end up splitting my time between playing Jin in WHFB, drooling over mikhaila's table, and (possibly) helping cover the Ineptus Astartes table to give some of the regulars a break...

I was planning on going, but decided against it this past weekend. As long as all my fellow dakkites take plenty of photographs and post plenty of rumors, I'm happy. Otherwise, I dont see the point of forking out hundreds of dollars to travel 5 hrs and stay overnight in a hotel just to maybe get a few games in and gawk at a lot of pretty tables.

So, do you think that GW might withhold the Outrider stuff until the GD, and combine the new info releases at the same time? Or maybe, just hold off on any "big" announcement for the GD?

I'll be there, helping to run the IFL Rapid Fire tourney again this year. Bring 500 points of 40K or Fantasy, some comp rules apply, here's the 40K:

- Max 500pts from a current, published GW codex
- Force Org: 0-1 HQ, 1+ Troops, 0-1 Elite, 0-1 Fast, 0-1 Heavy Support
- Max 250pts on any single unit
- Max 100pts on any single model
- No 2+ Saves
- No Model with more than 2 wounds

Not sure on the Fantasy.

Anyways, we track wins and losses, best record overall for the day wins a prize awarded at the end of the day.

Doesn't that violate the rules that he just listed out?

Sounds cool! I'd be interested in hearing about the fantasy portion, and if it's something that can be done in between other things or for part of the day, or if it'll take the full day...

I'm seriously hoping this is just an oversight, but what about armour not exceding 33? Every SM player will have a damn Land Raider and it will turn into a game of... "I killed your LR first, I win".

@don_mondo: I caught up with Bill when he was in Atlanta, and he mentioned the rapid fire tourney. I'd definitely be interested, but I also want to hit the other competitions, speed painting, maybe the forgeworld line (gulp!). Would it be worthwhile to jump in even if you can't dedicate half a day to lots of successive games?

I would be excited if not for the fact that we Canadians have been forsaken.

It was always easy to justify a day out...not so much with a weekend trip down south. Maybe next year someone will remember we're up here.

Not holding my breath though...

Yep, I think so. You can jump in and out during the course of the day.

Rapid Fire Rules
How it all works:
1. Just walk up when you want to play a Rapid Fire Tournament game, and get in the line for your game system (Warhammer Fantasy or Warhammer 40K).
2. You'll be asked to provide a copy of the list you will be playing. After its examined for accuracy, you'll get scenario & results sheets for your next game.
3. When called from the front spot in your line, go to your assigned table, and play the player already at the table (using the scenario you were given). Games are not timed, but expect a result in 30-45 minutes.
4. If you win your game, you also win a custom IFL die for your collection, and have the option to hold the table to play against the next player in line. If you decide to hold the table, you must use the same army list for your next game. If this was your third win in a row, you lose the option to hold the table (go get back in line bub).
5. If you lose your game, you walk (to the back of the line or to check out the other great events at Gamesdays). When you are ready for another game, just come on back and get in line. You may change your army list during your break if you wish, but if you do so, you must submit your new army list.
6. If your game ends in a draw, both players walk, but feel free to get back in line for another game right away. The more games you play, the better your potential to score the big prizes.

I'll track down the fantasy rules and double check on the armor value thing. IIRC, it was in the rules last year.

OK, doublechecked, no armor value restriction BUT!!

Note that there is a restriction of 100 points on any single MODEL, with the 250 point restriction applying to any single UNIT. So no land raiders.

Nope, online only, or order through a GW store ahead of time. No tickets at the door.

Outrider stuff? I haven't heard a thing about the old volunteer program since they scrapped Kommandos. Website is down and gone, as I think Gogo had control of it. If they do start something back up, that would be cool, but I don't expect it at this point in time.

My 'Outrider stuff' will be several beers lifted on Friday night to make sure I have a hangover for Saturday morning. Can't break tradition.

Does that mean the Brewery across the street? I think we were at the same bar last year, even the same table judging by the pic hehe. If so, see you there as well on Friday, that's a great hangout!

The display....is going to be sick, great work so far! Hopefully it's all set and ready to go!
