Wondering how you think this would play in a tournament and how my theme and composition would get scored. Let me just say for anyone who thinks this army is not going to get out and assault think again, the rides aren't going to stay alive forever and the power weapons and fist along with the priest will help with that when the time comes.

Only thing i'd suggest is dropping the second librarian and taking another Sanguine Priest.

Also how are you adding up your assault marines???

Assault marine squad w/ Power Weapon and Melta Gun is 125 points. Razorback is 55 POINTS. T-L Plasma Gun and Lascannon is 35 points

TOTAL: 215

Assault Marine sqaud w/ Power FIST and melta gun is 135 points. Razorback is 90 points with add-on

TOTAL: 225 points

So your total now becomes: 1990 points

And I can tell you at 2000 points you have nowhere near enough marines on the ground.

20 scoring units at 1850 points meens that this list will either win big or loose horribly.

With that out of the way, 5 man assult squads are not worth it. You wont get much utility out of them, you need numbers. I like to refer to them as a glass sword, they can do alot of dmg when used properly but they break really easily.

I was actually considering a list along the lines as this the other day, however I used the standard marine codex. My list ran 3 predators, 2 shooty dreads and 4 tactical squads with razorbacks.

My recommendation to you would be to drop some tanks to give yourself a solid core of troops. Then work up form there.

Beef up your Assault troops to maybe 2 troops of 10 and 2 troops of 5 each... 5 man assault squads in rhinos. 10 man assault squads deep striking to bring the pain when you need.

Corennus, don't forget that assault marines get 35"free" points toward a DT if they take off their JP's.

1847 points.

You've kept all your Predators so you'll have a lot of tank firepower.
And you've got three assault squads now with FnP. One of which is a dedicated tank hunter (melta). one which will have the Unleash Rage librarian and one with a Reclusiarch who is a CC monster and also lets you reroll failed hits.

enjoy

Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

You dont need preists in a mechanised firepower list.

You do if you want your assault marines to survive. especially when you're contesting objectives.

I think the librarians don't need Shield though.

This kind of list looks already familiar: Razorback and Predator spam.
Its a mech list. So you can drop the Sang. Priest, and the
Librarians should eventually get shield and lance.

Small Assault Marine squads don't cut it in cc. I'd give them meltas and infernus pistols,
but no special cc weapons.

Just curious. Why is everyone advising cutting the Sanguinary Priests. There's bound to be some infantry the assault marines have to deal with.....

Well, mech lists don't need Sang. Priests.
If the minimal Assault squads get out of their transports,
they will eventually not survive if they are targeted,
no matter if they have FNP or not.

Well, in larger units, Sang. Priests are useful, especially when the troop has jump packs.
On the other hand, maxed-out Assault squads in Rhinos are generally not worth it.
Here minimial Assault squads in Razorbacks seem to be more effective;
remember that a Razorback with heavy flamer costs only 20 pts
and can complement a small squad with 2 meltas.

8 man assault unit will last a lot longer with a priest. and transports won't last all game.

I run the two librarians for the shield upgrade, it's saved my ass quite a bit especially against droppodding marine list, I played against a list like that and gave him first turn he dropped down 5 dreads with twl multimeltas, and pinned 4 preads, with just one librarian I had to bunch up to protect my tanks so I couldn't move much on my turn but I made all my shield saves for my tanks and he killed nothing. Another thing why does everyone put shooty weapons on the priest they are made for cc not shooting, with WS 5 they will do much better in assault then at shooting. And dont forget that you get 35 pts free for taking off the jumppacks on the assault squads.

Well, the shield is fine in a mech list, two might even be better.
A Priest is rather vulnerable with no inv. save.
I'd keep them in the transport when the unit embarks.

At least you get the FnP with the priest using the Vehicle footprint. meaning you get an area around the vehicle that has FNp!

And the answer to why you don't want your priest in CC is cause WS 5 is good. but against proper tough opponents he'll die cause he's just in Power Armour.
