Deployment
Craig wins the roll off and deploys first. He puts his Manticore in a ruin surrounded by the 30 Guardsmen, he puts the other blob of Guard in the shrine ruin while the skimmers line up in the centre.
I deploy putting my Fire Prism opposite the shrine on the board and hiding the Jetbikes behind. I deploy the Dragon Serpent just behind a ruin, Craig can still get
LOS but it will get cover. Other Serpents are deployed close to the Dragon Serpent.
I try to seize the initiative but fail...
*Tactical Notes
Ok my plan here is to turbo boost the Dragons and then later tackle that Manticore. I'll use the Prism to bust infantry or skimmers and the lances to brake the skimmers too. I'll then zip up, unload and blast infantry with shuri catapults.
Turn 1
Craig scouts over the Valkyrie towards the Fire Prism. In his actual turn
CCS bail out the Valkyrie and spy up the Prism.
Shooting the meltas fire at the Prism but only break all it's weapons and immobilise it. The Vendetta has better luck and makes it go boom, I lose two Jetbikes in the explosion. The Manticore rains down on the lance Serpents exploding one where I lose an Avenger in the blast and the lance is broke off another.
In my turn the solo Jetbike fails morale and leaves the party, nice. Dragons turbo boost towards the Guard deployment area while the operational Serpent moves to fire the underslug shuri cannon along with the out in the open Avengers at the
CCS.
Serpent and Avengers fail to kill
CCS mostly because half the Avengers were out of range, great, just leaves a single survivor.
Kill points are Eldar 0: Guard 3
*Tactical Notes
Balls! I've got no long ranged weaponry and a single unit of suicide Dragons but three lots of armour to tackle, nice!
Turn 2
The surviving
CCS model jumps back in the Valkyrie which falls back. Vendetta swings around to target the Dragon Serpent.
Shooting the Dragon Serpent fails saves and is popped, Dragons are then gunned down by the 30 Guardsman platoon - nice :( . Manticore rains down on the Avengers in cover, they take the pain but still survive.
Avengers took 25% damage they fail morale and leg it, nice. Just because I can I ram the solo Serpent into the Valkyrie but it dotches on a 3+
*Tactical Notes
Bollocks is all I have to say.
Turn 3
Manticore fails to pop the solo Serpent but melta
PCS which bailed out the Vendetta wreck it, the Eldar get gunned down leaving a wounded Farseer and 3 Avengers, awesome!
I can't do a lot to move to shoot the
PCS and kill one. I charge do nothing and take no wounds.
At this point I call it a win to Craig as if I do win c.c I'll get gunned down next turn one way or another, either way it won't be a long game
lol.
Guard win!
Summary
Looking back Craig got target priority spot on. He nuked the Prism with lascannons and attempted melta and without a Serpent-like force field it was brown bread. He then took out my long range anti tank fire power and then the Dragons folded. Good going Craig!
Eldar, I like them, but, bigger games for transports is where it's at. Looking back the lance Serpents are 145 each plus 115 Prism plus 110 Dragon Serpent which is 515, just over half my army! That's a lot. I think I'm going to go either Guard like I originally planned or revise the Orks.
