Hi, I'm considering buying a new bike online and the only thing that's stopping me is the fact that I'd have to assemble the thing. What I'm wondering is, is it generally better to have a pro at a bike shop assemble it or can it be pretty easily assembled by one such as myself that has never assembled a bike before?
here's the bike on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/GMC-Topkick-Dual-Suspension-Mountain-Bike/dp/B000BT4W2C
Here's a pic of what the bike would look like unassembled:
also any tips or advice for a beginning mountain biker would be appreciated.

Build it yourself! if the pieces don't seem to fit right you can always use some greenstuff to fill the gaps.

Thanks ribbon fox, I think I'm going to go with this bike, but the whole hardtail vs. full suspension is still nagging at me. What do you ride?

haha no it's just a customer image on amazon. it was the only one that showed the bike unassembled.
needless to say, I would never buy anything from anyone with looney tunes bedsheets.

This is what I'm ridding at the moment {The Carrera Vulcan V Brake Priced £286.99, this hard tail boasts: 7005 T6 heat treated aluminium disc specific frame Suntour XCM 100mm travel fork 24 sp SRAM SX4 rear mech and triggers Tektro V-brakes} As you can see its a hard tail, I perfer them they don't feel like they permenetly have flat tyres when you ride them. Plus where i live most of its ride time is on tarmack (there an't no mountans in the south of england )
