Why are Stars of Chaos Undivided on literally every single piece of Imperial Equipment?

What the hell is the deal with Iron Halos, skulls with eight arrows, crosses with eight rays, etc that seems to be included on every single non-chaos SM chapter's "stuff"?

Do you have some examples? Because I suspect there is a certain amount of hyperbole at play here.

The Iron Halo is only a half circle, and is surrounded by spikes rather than arrows. I have no idea what you're referring to with the others.

Because it represents how the Imperium stands on the knife-edge of damnation. One moment's lapse makes their atrocities exactly like those of They Who Would Be Opposed.

Mechanicus Gear - 12 teeth(four more than a Chaos star), not the same symbol at all.

Calgar's Iron Halo - 12 very small spikes, not the same symbol at all.

Company Champion's kneepad star - 12 points, Not the same symbol.

Generic iron Halo - A half circle with 7 points and a skull in the center, Not the same symbol.

Black Templar - Maltese cross(sometimes with an X behind it), not the same symbol.

I could go on but i think you get the picture. In short Space Marines use a Circle(ro Half of one) that has 12(7 for the half-circle) points coming off of it; this is not the same thing as the 8-pointed Chaos star.

Similarly the Iron and Maltese crosses are different and have different meanings.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

R'lyeh

Maybe he means all the star/skull combos on the AoBR marines/termies/dreadnought. They don't especially look like chaos stars but the the star has 4 points and there's a skull and crossbones on top of it.

...urrrr... I dunno

It might look like it, but that does not make it a chaos star. To be a chaos star, it has to have points, otherwise it doesn't count.

Waaagh! Gorskar = 2050pts
Iron Warriors VII Company = 1850pts
Fjälnir Ironfist's Great Company = 1800pts
Guflag's Mercenary Ogres = 2000pts

So, now that we've seen this isn't the case...

Is NumberZero some sort of rabble rousing double agent?

I don't see much of this symbol in loyalist gear.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Because one of the preheresy symbols of the emperor was a Sun with 8 flares coming off of it. Seen here on these guys chests: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a118/Gagoc/Sources/GW_Mk1s.jpg

I think its easy enough to say chaos star is a corrupted form of the emperor's star.

I thought the early symbol of the Emperor was more of a 'lightning bolt' thing?

That old MKI suit might just have poor scultping/molding...maybe!

In other early books you see the symbol drawn more as a sun. Both the drawn depictions and sculpt of the chests are identical to the first knights of the blazing sun, that were on foot.

I'm not saying my explanation of the chaos start is right, but in the context of this particular imagery it makes some sense to me, especially when considering notions of evil twisting and distorting sacred imagery.

The top row of these guys and 5 other knights that looked more conventional but with the same iconography were sold through white dwarf for a couple of months as "Knights of the Blazing Sun."

Unfortunately that's the best picture of those guys I can find.

The Number Zero is an important part of Maths, invented by Indians about 2,000 years ago, and means Nothing.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

The Thousand Sons' PH chapter emblem was also a wavy 8 pointed 'star'. Maybe theyre Chaos.
