My buddy and are playing in a doubles tournament. I play Daemons and he plays Imperial Fists. We both have to contribute 1000 points and form a singular force org chart. I was thinking of running a fateweaver type list which would be beneficial to his high armored space marines. Any other good combos out there that you guys can think of when combining these 2 armies?

Do the rules actually allow you to use special abilities and psychic powers on the allies army? That would be a bit unbalancing to put it mildly Id say.
If it does then yeah, try Fateweaver and have your friend bring a bunch of assault terminators in Land Raiders. You can shield Fateweaver with the LRs untill close and then be done with whatever is on the other side of the table. In a setup like that Id complement the CD list with harrasmenttype units such as Heralds of Tzeentch on Chariots, Screamers, Flamers, and Plaguebearers for the scoring bit.

If the rules forbid 'interally-support', Id go for long range firepower in the IF list(Devastators, Predators, Riflemen Dreads, Land Speeders etc) and an agressive assault oriented Daemons list. With Fiends, Crushers, a Bloodthirster and Bloodletters for instance. That would complement each other well Id say. You'll be so 'In your face' with your Daemons that the opponent will hardly have enough firepower to deal with the long range threat posed by the IF list.

Fiery the angels fell; deep thunder rolled around their shores; burning with the fires of Orc.

Armies:
Daemons: 5000+ points
CSM/Black Legion: 5000+ points
Deathwatch/Knights: 5000 points

The way the tournament works (which seems random and not at all a good basis of judgement) if the codex says "friendly units" rather than just "insert a single army name here" than it is useable for both players in the tournament. Of course GW doesn't write their codexes in the event a 2v2 of this nature is going to occur, nor do they word a codex with this in mind. That's how they are running it though so I may as well take advantage. Thanks for the tips.

I was thinking of a possible template list. This may be a stupid idea but humor me for a second. 2 soul grinders, a Greater Unclean One, some flamers and some troops on my side. Plasma, orbital bombardment, vindicator and some other aoe on his side. Sounds like a possible gimmick. Am I just being slowed or is that actually interesting?
