Hey all.
I'm slowly picking away at ideas for a WHFB Orc army, and was wondering which, of any, race's crossbows would be approximately sized for use by Orcs?
I've got a dozen or so of the old Starter Set Arrer Boyz, but would likely want to expand my numbers via conversions, instead of tracking down more starter set Arrer Boyz.
Any of the crossbows from various kits nearly orc-sized? Or maybe just barely orc-sized, for comedic effect?

DE have tons of crossbows which are probably of a decent size, but they're usually modelled onto their soldiers, since it's such a good/effective option. What you really need is an army that has crossbows that are not effective, so that someone will have them as spare bits...

Empire, perhaps? Their frame appears to have several "loose" crossbows.

Rugluds Armoured Orcs... Its only 10 Orcs for $50... but they have crossbows and look pretty damn cool!

Just a suggestion as they do cost alot and theres no conversion required which is something you might have wanted to have done.

Yes! These were always some of my favorite models.

I believe the backstory had something to do with them knocking off a bunch of Dwarves, and nicking their armour and shooty-fings. The banna-wava grot, whose name I have forgotton, had a 4+ Ward or something to represent his extreme luck.

Those be the ones! Great models athough expensive.

And yeah, the goblins name is Maggot, the Goblin standard bearer that has survived countless battles and is treated as a "mascot". 4+ ward save is because he has lived a "charmed life"

Hmm, if you were going to make orcs with crossbows, surely the bows would have to be massive and spiky? kind of like miniature spear chukkas.

Just a random musing.

Thanks, all.
Mixing in some of the Ruglud's boyz might work.

I was mostly going for orcs with crossbows, so I could recreate a sort of "looted man at arms" look, using the Orc heads with the conical Norse helms, crossbows, and a whole bunch of various quivers stuck on their belts.
I also plan to do a few humorous conversions, like an orc with an arrow in his foot, or one looking down the barrel of an Empire handgun.

My Orc army will be very non-competitive, so I want it to be 100% thematic, and hilarious.
