As I look closer at the deathstrike missle launchers stats, I see more flaws with it. it has a 3 inch blast radius plus a d3. which means it has a maximum of a 6 inch radius. It also takes multiple turns for it to fire. Which means it can be destroyed before it can do anything. It also takes up a heavy support slot, 160 points and only has one shot. Can somebody tell any of the pros for the deathstrike?

if it survives

and if it launches

and if you're lucky with the scatter and size of the template,,,

everything it touches DIES.

Amazing for games of apoc against super combos in landraiders and titans and junk.

Not so good in your average game where it will die without doing anything for 3 turns.

Yeah, in Apoc, it's a dream. Otherwise, it kind of sucks. I think it negates cover saves, yeah?

Unless you're shooting it at terminators, everything will die.

I remember a story about some guy who took a Deathstrike for ardboys. One game it blew up a nob biker unit killing over 700 pts. Unfortunately the owner of that nob biker unit was a friend of mine. He still grumbles about it to this day.

Death strikes are probably good in Apoc where people are wasting their time shooting at the Superheavies and everything is so tightly bunched up to fit that many points on the table.

Yeah, they're Apoc-only for the most part.

When you do use them there, consider using this datasheet, which is both flavorful and seriously kick-a$$:

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

The more crowded the game the better they work, so great in APOC.

In regular tournament sized games their best use is as really cool objectives in objective based games.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

a six inch RADIUS. Not a six inch DIAMETER. Seriously, pull out your tape measure and put a die down on a table. Trace a circle 6" in radius around it. Throw a few squads in there for comparison. That's 113 square inches of pure carnage.

Of course, it's futzy and unreliable as all get out. It does, however, basically give you an auto-win against someone stupid enough to run a gun line.
