Wow, that's a sweet model holding the bird! I would have thought it was a hawk, they call it "Fenix" which perhaps is referring to a phoenix...?
WoC seem tough in this edition! It's interesting, because they can still do the elite army with low numbers of tough warriors, or a horde list with marauders. They also have crazy magic, and the hellcannon, to go with it.
I think treemen are great against them, since they do have less shooting than most armies, and the high toughness and high number of wounds means it's probably going to survive to attack with 5 strength 6 attacks plus Thunderstomp! I'd be sure to equip a treeman ancient with annoyance of nettlings and cluster of radiants!
Treekin I believe will be good as well, since they're tough enough to hold their own in combat. Dryads will also be great for taking on smaller units with their high initiative and 2 attacks each.
I can't speak too much to the elf-side of things, since I only play the trees! However, a level 4 caster is a good choice for any army now, and if you take one for wood elves you'll be getting access to lore of life or beasts. In a high point level game, a treeman ancient and a level 4 caster would be the best lord choices, I think. At a lower point level, you're going to have to choose between the two.
Shooting, I'm not so sure about against
WoC. Some glade guard would be good, but there's going to either be 1) a lot of armor to get through with an elite
WoC force, or 2) a lot of numbers with a horde / marauder list. You're going to face combat, so you're going to have to be ready for it! Even if you take some shooting to try to whittle them down first.
I see wardancers fulfilling the same role as dryads, a hard-hitting unit that is fragile, but can take down a small enemy unit due to high initiative and lots of attacks.
Wildriders may be some help, but I have shelved them for this edition, as cavalry in general got a lot weaker and really can only support now, unless you've got an expensive unit of knights (such as
WoC does!) that can survive getting attacked back and staying stuck in combat.
Eagles are also excellent, for warmachine hunting! As are waywatchers. My eagles have been the MVPs thus far in 8th edition, and you can take 2 and still bring a treeman for rare
Glade riders, I have not used... but vanguard movement, marching and shooting gives them an edge, although I think they're a little more vulnerable since fleeing is only
3D6 and pick the highest 2. With a bad roll, they won't survive to continue to harass the enemy. In general, wood elf harassment tactics got a lot worse, while some of our combat unit (trees) got better, although it is in the face of blocks in general becoming much more powerful. I think our style has to change a lot from the traditional guerilla warfare most players employed, but we can still hang!
Those are my thoughts, hopefully they are some help
