Then, lets say neither chimera moved, so we're able to shoot two missiles at the rhino, blowing it up and having all the guys get out. The rhino is a dedicated transport taken for the squad. Is it an extension of the squad so that the plasma guns can be fired at the guys who were inside said rhino? Or is it the case that the squad fired at the container of the squad and thereby cannot shoot any more shots at that unit? I think it makes sense that in real time, the heavy weapon goes off and then as the shrapnel falls, the vets pump their plasma into the mess just to tidy up loose ends. What do the rules say? Is this an issue between players to be decided on or is this a stated rule in the big book?
Thanks!
one important rule you're missing is that the shooting UNIT shoots at the exact same time at another UNIT (the rhino in this case) and it's fire must be resolved before moving onto another unit. if playing 100% by the rules, you'd have to fire ONE squad of vets first and declare exactly what is firing at the rhino (most players assume you are firing everything). even if the first die you roll is the rocket and it destroys the rhino, you'd still have to check for overheats on the plasma if you declared them to be firing. if the rhino is destroyed, the next UNIT may fire on the squad that was in the rhino (assuming they have
LOS/range/etc). alot of players (including me) just shorten this to rolling multiple units together if there is little chance of success (like missle launchers at av13) but it's *technically* wrong. if you're rolling two bs4 rocket launchers from different squads at the same time vs a light vehicle like a rhino, you're only screwing yourself over.
