Hi folks,

I've been using the revel contacta glue recently for putting tanks and IG together and I find it great to work with. However after a few weeks use the nozzle on the glue pot seems to have become blocked. I've been cleaning it off after use and recapping but now nothing will come out, even though there's definitely some still in the container. So the question is, anyone have any idea how to unblock the tube? For those unfamiliar with the product the metal tube has an exceptionally small diameter and I can't believe there's a form of wire out there small enough and rigid enough to do the job, so I'm guessing some kind of solvent might be the only option. All sensible ideas welcome.

If you're not quite sure what I'm talking about, a picture:

Remove the needle, heat it up with a candle or something.

Take a plastic twist tie, cut the plastic wrap off half of it, leaving a nice thin piece of wire that should fit into the needle perfectly (using the still-wrapped half as a handle) - a good poke should clear the blockage.

^ Both of the above work.

I use the second mostly, but when the tube clogs with gunge and the wire makes no difference, I pull the tube out with pliers and hold one end over a flame until it goes "phut!".

Then, when it has cooled a little, I put it back into the bottlecap.

I've never heard of this glue and am intrigued. Is this a UK specific product? Is it a gel or thin type glue? A metal dispensing tube sounds nice.

Its not UK specific as you can buy it in germany too. Its a "thin type" glue and the metal tube is great as you can burn it out very easy.
EDIT: The homepage is: www.revell.com and they have a distributer in the USA.

Cheers

Ouze - this is readily available in the US, we use it here and it's amazing. Sounds like the same thing, except it comes with wires to unclog it until you lose them

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll try the wire first if I've got one thin enough, tried a twist tie I had hanging around and it was a little large but I'll see if there's another around and if not, candles it is.

OK, that one I have seen but never used Clearly a lot of people here like it, so perhaps I should invest in some. Thank you.
