Hi there!

About two months ago I've been posting a pic of an ooooold rogue trader Inquisitor model asking what it could possibly be. I promised to reward the Dakkite who would find out what model it was by giving his name to the war machine I was working on.

Deathby1000stings found out exactly what this model was, so, Ladies and Gentlemen, here's my brass scorpion named "The Death by Thousand Stings"

Now it's time to put some paint on it. I'll paint the armor plates with layers of red from 'scab red' to a mix of 'gore red' and 'blood red'. The brass wil be painted with a 'tin bitz' and various gold paints to have a nice look.

Yet, there are still some parts I don't know how to paint (engines, pistons, cannons, and all the mechanisms under the body.)

I really need some help. Any idea?

I would say you should go with boltgun metal and drybrush it on or some kind of silver, or you could always go with brass on them aswell

Drybrushing brass or dark silver is very quick and effective.

tin blitz then paint on bolt gun metal leaving the tin blitaz in the reseses then a mixture of badab black and devlian mud as a wash in a random pattern then re highlight with boltgun metal. this is what i would do. but im a adictive weathering sort of person so the under side will be quite dirty

a cow and a calf are cut in half, and put into some cases, to call it art, however smart, casts doubt on arts hole basis.

That looks quite nice. I would get some sort of colored primer for whatever the main color is, or use a spray gun or something. That approach is much easier when it comes to large models of any sort.

Also, I would paint the cables/tubes in a color that stands out from the rest. I painted all the tubing on my CSM's backpacks red, while the packs themselves were bronze, and it looks really good. In this case, you might want to go with a dark blue or something.
