"A warleader of the renegade Alpha Legion, the demon prince Kernax Voldrius's reign of terror has bled across the stars, leaving billions dead. Captain Kor'sarroKhan of the White Scars Chapter is petitioned to hunt down and destroy Voldorius. Tracking the beast doggedly for over a decade, Kor'sarro Khan finally drags Voldorius to battle on Quintus, a world that has totally fallen to the Alpha Legion. Now together with their Raven Guard allies, the White Scars must combat an entire planet if they are to slay the daemon price."

So... apparently we do have at least a partial answer to some of the questions posed in LEGION?

That some (all?) of the Legion did lose their way and turn to Chaos?

Or, is it yet another case of shoddy planning and Editorial at The Black Library?

I suppose we might find out, this September!

What?

It's always been that, for the most part, the Alpha Legion have been pretty pure of Daemonic taint--much like the Night Lords. But, of course that doesn't mean it's -completely- untainted.

Er, yes.

But, LEGION has somewhat leveled the playing field/re-written the book, in terms of what ended up becoming the Legion's motivation, goals, etc. post-Heresy.

SOME of the Legion lost their way, yes, but I still believe that they are at heart "good guys". From what I've seen in the SM codex, Voldoriusand freinds didn't operate much in the way of the "conventional" Alpha Legion anyway.

What's that famous Nietszche quote?

'He who fights monsters must take care, lest he become a monster himself'?

I think that applies perfectly here. They spent so long under the guise of being devoted followers, it's completely likely some have lost their way and gone over or just lost their sanity.

Has there ever been truer words for the Alpha Legion?

Let me answer my own retorical question: no.

OK, Ok - good quotes, one and all!

I still think we're going to end up with:

Spoiler:
Alpharius = Good

Omegon = Bad

Actual answer: yes.

"For the Emperor!"

No way!

Spoiler:
Omegon is going to be the proto-typical Emo teen angst "you really should have gotten over this by now" Primarch template that BL can't seem to get past in terms of the Traitors.

Actually, I CAN change my name!

But, of course, I won't!

Still, all kidding aside, you can just see the Legion schism coming.

The actual, literal 'Brother vs. Brother' battle mirroring the larger Heresy is too easy and obviously for BL to NOT use, and abuse...

About time the Scars got some love. Without the Great Khan, the Imperium would be speaking Horus Gothic by now!
