I can ask my parents to either get me Halo: Reach or a Devestator Squad. Which one should i pick?

Go for whichever tugs at your heart strings more. I would say that devastators have the potential of being worth more if you are really good at painting and can sell them online for more than what they originally cost. Reach will depreciate in value no matter what.

Ah, but playing 40k with yourself is boring because you know exactly what the opponent will do, exactly how they think, and no matter what, you win (and also lose...) Whereas with Reach you can play the Campaign any time you want, or even go on X-Box Live and play multiplayer anytime you want. Your Halo: Reach does not require assembly/painting. And if there's one thing I've learned in all my years of gaming, the most important lesson has to be "Never, ever, under any circumstances sell a game!" So it really doesn't matter if it's worth less over time.

Why not both. Get dev, paint them with the utmost care. That will occupy one maybe two months. Sell devs to person to lazy to paint. If decent job is don expect maybe 80 bucks. By this point the game will have settled and you can get a used version for 20 bucks, new devs for 50 with another GW price increase, and 10 bucks to buy some caffeine to stay up all night playing reach and painting devs. Success!
