So I was toying with some ideas for characters last night and came up with this:

Inquisitor Lord Galan Ryt:

WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv Pts.
5 4 4 4 3 5 4 10 3+/5+ 195

equipment:

Power Armour, Master-Crafted Daemon Hammer, Holy Relic, Amulet of St. Cathrine.

Amulet of St. Cathrine: Galan is truely blessed to have discovered a sacred amulet that once belogned to St. Cathrine, the amulet gives him a 5+ invulnerable save.

special rules: Independent Character, By The Emperor's Light I Lead, My Faith is My Shield.

By The Emperor's Light I Lead: If Galan is attached to a squad, the entire squad benefits from the preferred enemy and fearless special rules.

My Faith is My Shield: If Galan fail A Save for any reason then it may be re-rolled, you must accept the second result, however.

Tell me what you think

Looks a bit like a weaker, more expensive Lord Cortez to me, tweak it slightly and It'll be OK.

Reads like a mix of a daemonhunter and a witchhunter inquisitor, a bit odd that hes got s4 and t4 too.

Does he get a retinue?

No Retinue, hence the s4 t4 :/

Is he supposed to be a member or former member of the Ecclesiarchy? If not, I imagine he'd be getting in their bad books by holding onto one of Saint Katherine's relics instead of handing it over to the Ecclesiarchy or the Adeptus Sororitas.

How is this justified exactly? Humans and equivilents are almost always S3/T3 in most cases, those that arn't tend to have a piece of wargear or fluff that describes why they are extra strong. Eg, Hector Rex is bigger than normal humans, bigger even than SM's, this is represented by the fact his model is bigger than a terminator.

If you gave us some back ground into him it'll help, awnser such question as;

- why can he re-roll his armour save?
- why can he re-roll his invunerable save?
- why can he re-roll his cover save?
[All of the above just through strength of will it seems]?
- why does he have a relic belonging to the eccslarchy while being part of the Daemon hunters?
- If he's important enough to the imperium to be gifted a relic of the imperium why does he such a terrible armour/invunerable save?
- why does he have super - spacemarine stats (seriously, T/S 4, I5())?

Okay some background:

Galan Ryt Inquisitor Lord of the Daemonhunters assisted the sisters of battle in destroying a heresy on the planet of Salec in M734.34 and was greviously wounded by herald of khorne.
After the battle was won, he was discovered in a heap of bodies, still clutching to life.
He was implanted with numerous bionic implants and is now more machine than man, with only his torso and head still retaining flesh.
He insisted that only his faith, love and devotion to the Emperor allowed him to 'cheat' death and as such, for his faith and fervour in which he destroyed heretic and daemon alike, he was awarded with a blessed amulet of St. Kathrine by Inquisitor Lord Karamazov.

the bad armour and invulnerable save is to try and even out his being able to re-roll all his failed saves.

Inquistior Karamazov would not have had that amulet in the first place. It belongs to the church, not the Inquisition.

The two organizations are quite separate. And yes, the church does have a lot of power. Even within the Inquisition-- many Inquisitors are former priests or former Sororitas, after all (source: Dark Heresy - Ascension).

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.
