Alright, just picked up the Daemon hunter Codex, and I had a few questions. All these questions are for ally'ing Daemon Hunters into my Codex: Space Marine army:

1. I've read on Dakka a few times that, for the special assassins (Vindicare and so on) you need an Inquisitor lord in your army (Over 100 point model). But, according to the side box on pg 26, I need an Inquisitor Lord OR an Inquisitor (20 points). Can't I just take a 20 point model in order to access the Assassins?

2. I've read on Dakka that a Grand master Grey Knight's Nemesis Force Weapon is a Force weapon that Insta-kills eternal warriors. After reading the Force Weapon rule on page 17 and the NFW rule on 18, I can't read anything where it gets past EW . I just can't see a scepticle opponent letting me remove Lycander without me showing off the rule to them.

3. Troop choice Justicars are allowed any equipment allowed from the Daemon Hunter Armory. Does that mean I can give any Troop choice Justicar a Psychic hood. And it attempts to counter every enemy psychic power, no range restriction?

4. Can I still Counter Psychic powers while inside a Land Raider?

5. Is there any rules which prevent an my allied Grey Knights from starting the game in my Space Marine land raider? Or do they need to embark on my first turn?

Thanks in advance.

From without, the Imperium is assailed by alien monsters from the depths of space, nightmare death-machines and soulless daemons (as well as soulless death-machines and nightmare daemons, and the occasional soulless daemon in a nightmare death machine).

1. As far as I am aware, yes. Most people dont use the elite guy as his psychic hood isnt as good (assuming he has one, he is a psyker tho...) and takes up an Elite. Most guard / SM armies have spare HQs but elites can be trickier.

2. Because it removes all wounds from the model, it does not cause ID. EW only protects you from Instant Death.

Same mechanism yes, but because it does not use the ID name it bypasses EW

3. No idea, no DH codex on me right now - last i knew the armoury was....odd

4. Who knows. You can certainly measure to a unit inside a transport, however here you are measuring to a model. However as you have the old unlimited range version you doint actually need to measure at all - I would say "yes", and that is how most people play it even for the new limiteed range versions.

5. The only rule that would prevent this is if the SM LR was bought as a dedicated transport, as p67 demonstrates.

1. If you're playing a "pure" DH army, yes, you can use the elite Inquisitor to access the assassin. However, if you are using them as allies, you need to take the Lord since you can only take one Elite unit (the assassin) as an ally.

2. Does the NFW say it uses the Instant Death rule? No, it does not. Eternal Warrior protects the model from the Instant Death rule, so affords no protection against the NFW.

3. Have to double check, but is there a small number next to the Hood denoting only certain type models can take it?

4. Yes.

5. What Nos said.

That's it. Wasn't putting 2 and 2 together about the FOC. Thank you

It does say "Slain outright." And while that doesn't inflict the "Instant death" status, I'm going to get grief the first time I use it. "Slain outright is the same as instant death" will be the exact quote :/

Well I hope not. Instant Death is a specific rule that is affected by 2 x toughness and certain weapons. Slain outright is not Instant Death. But as is so often proven here, some people will argue anything (and I include myself in that group).

There is. "Inquisitors, Inquisitor Lords and Grey Knights only."

It looks like any grey knight can have this super psychic hood. But that just seems wrong.

Ah, not any Grey Knight as only a Justicar or a Hero may take items from the armoury/wargear list. The specific reference to these selections is to rule out Inquisitorial Stormtrooper Vet Sgts who may also select items from the armoury. Now those guys having hoods as well would just be silly.
