Hi,

So, this is the latest addition to my guards. Please let me know what you think. Any ideas for improvement is welcome since I tend to stare myself blind at some things while being completely oblivious to others.

That looks lovely, have you used paints or weathering powders to get the slightly rusted effect?

Nice! I like the glass components alot!
Mabey give it a very subtle highlight with chainmail, just to make those details like rivets and so stand out a bit more.

Thanks all.

The rust effect comes from a light brush of scorched brown that is more focused towards the bottom of the edges followed by a very light brush of graveyard earth to remove some of the 'red-iness' left by the schprched brown.

The exhausts has also been given a very light brush of chaos black that further darkens the areas directly around and below them. They have also been lightly touched up by graveyard earth to bring back the bolts covered by the black.

Also, the entire model was painted Adaptus Battlegray and then heavily washed with Badab Black before being highlighted with codex and fortress grey to produce the shadowing on the 'flat' areas and also to bring out the bolts better.

I think it adds to the depth of the model and the subsequent weathering to create the dusted/rusted look.

Again thanks for commenting.

Looks amazing! You might want to add some details to the weapons though. The rusting on the tank looks super. Nice job.

DakkaDoc: Interesting idea. I have made a quick pass with boltgun over some of the areas. I'm just afraid that too much metallic would ruin the highlighting, but that might just be my paranoia. I purposely kept the highlighting 'low' for this model but I'll keep it in mind for my next project.

Bullfrog: You're welcome. Glad to be of service. :-)

40k Ninja: Please elaborate. What kinds of detail?

And to everyone mentioning the lenses/glass parts: Thanks a lot!
This is actually the first time that I've managed this well. It usually comes out a lot more blotchey but this time I really focused and took the time to add the colors in small amounts using many many many brush strokes with a detail brush. The search light I redid three times before it looked ok.

Again, thanks for all the comments! It makes me a happy puppy indeed! :-D

The lenses are superb. Definetly your best so far. This looks like some kind of black op's chimera.
So what's next? Freehand or NMM
