Hi gang...
I want to build my brother a Brass Scorpion for his birthday. Unfortunately, GW and Warseer both have removed the guides I remember from a year or two ago. Does anybody here have a step-by-step guide or tutorial I can follow? I'm sure I can figure it out, but it would be nice to have a good reference guide to speed the process along.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I've no pic of mine while it was still WIP, but I remember quite well how I made it (it was quite easy by the way), and I can still take pics of the finished model if you need it.
First of all how many legs do you want to give him? 6 (the same model as in Apocalypse book) or 8?
Are you going to buy defilers boxes or to order the needed parts on bitzshops?

Hello Hyenajoe...
I am going to build a six legged variant similar to the one in the Apocalypse book. I'd like to do eight, but my brother would be thrilled to have one similar to the book (even more so than a better one).
Is there a lot of 'cutting' of parts to be done, or do the parts generally fit together nicely?
EDIT: I will be looking to buy the Defiler kits to build this. I believe the one pictured in the Apoc book uses nothing but two defiler kits.

6 legged is easier and cheaper since legs are often coming by four (in the defiler kit and on most bitzshops as well).
There's not that much cutting in fact, but you'll need some sharp tools (in my case an X-acto was enough).
The main cutting job concerns the two defilers hulls and the two legs required to make the tail.
You'll have to build a hull with 8 implacements for the legs and claws.
I'll see if i can get some pics back home to show you where to cut.

My wife got the camera for the week-end, so no pics today... :
On the first hull, you must cut right between the second and the third emplacements, which leaves you with the claws ans first pair of legs implacements.
On the second hull, cut between the claws and the first pair of legs emplacements.
Then glue the two reduced hulls together.
Important point: the inferior part of the defiler hull present a very regular pattern, and if you make a neat cut on the aforementioned places you'll be able to keep this pattern intact when you'll glue the two hulls together.
Don't glue the exhaust stacks at the end of the hull, you'll place the tail there later (and there is no exhaust stacks on the Brass Scorpion so put it in your bitzbox).
The tail is a combination of two legs, but there I don't remember where to cut , I have to check on my model to be more precise.

Awesome! Thanks with what you've supplied so far!
I'll be hopefully starting in a week or two... so if you can supply some pics next week that would be great!

Ok, I've got my model close to me now.
Here's what you'll need to build the tail:
-a CC weapon arm (the one with the flail thing -you just need the arm and the motion axis, forget the flail)
-2 defiler legs
-1 twin-linked reaper autocannon and the armor plate that comes with
-1 regular defiler leg's armor plate
-some GS to fill the gaps.
I have uploaded a pic of my brass scorpion last week. It's not a great quality picture, but you may see how I built the tai. I hope it will help you.
I'll try to post better pics as soon as I'll get my camera back (monday or something like that)

HungryTaz, here are some more picture of the tail. (sorry to post them late)
Note: the GS near the chaos star on this second pic shows where you'll have to cut on both legs to make a junction..
Good luck for conversion!!!
