Had a blast last week at the Calixis tournament at Gencon, the scenarios were interesting while being decently balanced and the prizes actually worth having. Much thanks to the Shenanigans crew. Here's a link to the scenarios/blog:

We started with 13 and somehow went down to 10, which was a little small but it was the first year that they've done it. I sailed smoothly into first place, losing only 1 unit over all 3 games, but my opponents were all fun to play with and the mood was great. Everyone was there to have a good time. I am afraid I'm not up to detailed batreps, which wouldn't be terribly interesting anyway being so one-sided, but I thought I'd share my list and do a tally of what each unit managed to accomplish, to give people an idea of what the units do and how I used them. Keep in mind that some games ended on round 3 or 4.
The List:
Mad Dok Grotsnik (attached to slugga boyz)
Big Mek w/
KFF, armour,
PK
13 Lootas
30 Slugga Boyz, Nob w/
PK
30 Shoota Boyz, Nob w/
PK
18 Gretchin, Runtherd
3 Kans with Rokkits
3 Kans with Grotzookas
I played against Chaos round 1 (thousand sons, ahriman,
CSM squad, rhino, land raider, tzeentch lord, dreadnought)
Orks round 2 (2 trukks with boyz inside, battlewagon with burnas inside, 3 kans,
KFF mek, 4 nob bikers and biker warboss)
Eldar round 3 (maugan ra, eldrad, nearly fully equipped and upgraded harlequin squad, guardian jetbikes, pathfinders, swooping hawks, wraithlord, 3 war walkers with shuricannons)
The roll of honor:
Mad Dok Grotsnik and his sluggas: Killed a
CSM squad, warboss, nob bikers, trukker mob, wraithlord, maugan ra, harlequins. Absorbed ridiculous amounts of damage. Grotsnik got krumped by a kan in the second round, my only lost unit :/
KFF mek: Provided his bubble, killed some enemy boyz.
Lootas: Killed a Rhino, 2 trukks, scattered eldar and thousand sons casualties, and made the eldar player scatter his forces to the winds to avoid their
LoS
Shootas: Killed eldrad, jetbikes, war walkers, pathfinders, and held objectives in both objectives games
Gretchin: Held objectives in both objectives games, provided cover for the lootas in round 3
Rokkit Kans: Killed a dreadnought, a jetbike, some harlies, gave cover to the boyz
Grotzooka Kans: Stunned a land raider with a death or glory then killed it, killed a battlewagon, killed a few enemy boyz, gave cover to my boyz, stopped the burnawagon from reaching my boyz with its flamey death
Overall I was pleased with how the army played. MVP probably goes to the shootas, since I expect the sluggas to do pretty awesomely with grotsnik attached. The shootas were an absolute terror in round 3, shooting those tricksy jetbikes to death. The kans provide an excellent answer to mechanized armies, stopping them from tank shocking me as they please and giving more klaws for killing tanks, especially land raiders.
I don't think I'd change from what I have here, though swapping the mek for 2 more kans is something I have considered. In the end I stuck with what I have for slightly better durability and he still has a
PK for vehicles. Mostly, I kept him for scenario 3 that rewards you for having more
HQs, and because my carrying case as currently configured can't hold 2 more kans.
