I'm wondering if anyone remembers the old, now OOP, marine close-combat weapon sprue? The kind that had a powerfist, chainsword, powersword, poweraxe and a variety of pistols. If so, was there a melta-pistol on that sprue? I know there was a plasma pistol, hand flamer, and laspistol, but can't recall the melta pistol.

If you've got one or more, I'm interested in picking up a few...

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

No, there was no melta-pistol on the sprue. Sorry.

I've been playing Warhammer 40,000 since 1988, and am just coming back from a bit of a 10-year hiatus. And please excuse any wild accusations, hallucinations, or outright factual errors, as I am recovering from a serious head injury. And Warhammer 40,000 is part of my therapy. OH YEAH!

Thanks for letting me know!

There was no meltapistol in the game, for that matter.

The sprue also had an Autopistol on it.

The only other pistols in the 2nd edition game were:

Needle Pistol
Shuriken Pistol
Stub Gun
Web Pistol

I'd say that you can make a nice pistol from the meltagun itself, but it's kinda pointless now that the BA have proper ones.

In a world gone mad, who is left to fight for truth, justice and all that gets you smashed for under a fiver....

First played 40k during 2nd edition, missed out 3rd and 4th, and haven't played 40k since 5th edition - but still read and occasionally paint

I'm using them for combi-weapon conversions for my sternguard. I've had a handful of the hand flamers and plasma pistols and an autopistol - I swore that there was a melta pistol option for marine characters back in 2nd ed, but I'm probably not remembering right.

Oh, and you forgot laspistol, standard sidearm of the Howling Banshee.

That would be late 2nd, warboss. I picked up some of those sisters for an 'integrated' Space Marine army that had boys and girls in power armor using the allies rules.

I forgot about Dante's pistol...

Dante's Inferno Pistol was actually described as a pistol using similar principles to the meltagun, rather than as a meltapistol specifically

I never got around to picking up the SoB codex, so had no idea that they had them. I don't recall ever seeing them on a model.

I know the sprue that you're talking about and it does have one pistol that I was completely unable to identify that bore a striking resemblance to a melta-pistol. I ended up using them on my assault squads as such and I think they look the part just fine.

I don't have any more to trade with however. But I'll see if I can take or find a picture to show you what I'm talking about.

That 'melta' pistol was a 'hand flamer'.

The others were Bolt pistol, las pistol and auto-pistol.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
