So on page 134 of the BRB there's a side note about army books having a different selection system. So I just want to confirm something, can I put a lord into a 1000 pt army as long as he is less than 250 pts in total??? My army book says I can't put a lord in anything less than 2000 pts...

Yes you can. %'s are now what matters.

Mike - have a look at the erratas for your army (at http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=1000018&pIndex=1&aId=3000006&start=2), these should tell you to ignore the lord / hero character slots.

Yeah, I was thinking so, but wanted to confirm...

I did actually look at the errata, the only problem is it is a little confusing. It says PAGE 89 - Army List entry (which there is a section of the page called Amy List), but then in the text it says ignore the page. So, I guess for me at least, it is a little unclear...
