Me and my friends are in the process of switching from 40k to fantasy now that the 8th edition is all the rage at our LGS. I've decided to start a night goblin themed army since I don't like the orc core choices. I might however be open to some of the special choices since the boar boys are quite awesome.

I'm currently a little lost on how to make a army list that'll hold it's own. So I'm asking for some help with the army list I came up with, any advice would be helpful really.
The list is as follows:

LORDS
Night Goblin Warboss 109

Additional Hand Weapon
Light Armor
Martog's Best Basha
Bigged's Kickin' Boots

HEROES
Night Goblin Big Boss 109

Light Armor
Shield
Big Red Banner
BSB

CORE
51x Night Goblins 326

3x Fanatics
Spears
Nets
Standard, Musician

40x Night Goblins 207
3x Fanatics
Standard, Musician
Bows

6x Forest Goblin Spider Riders 108

Full Command

SPECIAL
Night Goblin Squig Herd 30

Night Goblin Squig Herd 30

RARE
Goblin Doom Diver Catapult 80

Total: 999 pts

I'm not quite sure whether to drop the BSB for a wizard or spell caddy. Or if the Doom Diver is a bit overkill in a 1k game. I've only gotten the BFSP goblins(with some models missing) and a box of 3 fanatics yet so all of these choices are viable for change.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

I too run an all Night goblin themed army and it works very well with the new rules. some things you may wish to consider is at 1k super large units arnt a huge must, i would suggest dropping the bows cuz they arnt worth the points, and taking 2 40 man spear units, with FC, nets and only 1 or 2 fanatics. With 3 its too many and they can come back to bite you in the ass. Only put a musician in the spider rider unit since its only meant to hunt war machines and characters. So then with the leftover pts you should be able to run a cheap mage. The doom diver is a great choice as itll soften up any elite unit the enemy will run at 1000 points.

Alright, so if I shave a few points from the goblins and field a shaman. Do I want it at lvl 2 or is lvl 1 enough. Also are the squig herds a good option for flank harassment and such like or am I better off using those points for something else?

Lvl 2 would be best if you can and idk they can be reallly effective or just do nothing, as much of a gamble as the OnG are they are probably the biggest. I might drop them at low pts for the shaman and swap the bows out on your night gobbos 16 inch shooting isnt very effective at bs3 and str3. With possible leftover pts maybe try to throw in a chariot boar would be best. Itll provide extra punch for the army. And make sure you run the gobbos as a horde

Ehh drop the min sized squigs. then try to fit in either 2 spear chukkas or a lobba

Dont under estimate a unit of 20-30 bows shooting. even at 18" they'll do something

that said though they do cause panic (and at such low ld)

I disagree with only running musicians in your spider riders.

In 8th edition musicians are probably the most powerful unit upgrade you can get.
