FAST ATTACK:
Assault Squad x10 (245) w/ Flamer x2 + Thunder Hammer + Melta bombs
Scout Biker Squad x3 (100) w/ Locator Beacon + Melta Bombs

HEAVY SUPPORT:
Land Raider (260) w/ Storm Bolter

TOTAL: 1750

Plan is to have the Bikes infiltrate up 12" from the enemy, have the dread and marines with meltas get dropped, shoot, then assault. Then when the bikers job is done, have them run for a charge at armor with their bombs and bolters for infantry.

While Shrike Infiltrates with the Assault Squad and go to pick off tanks, heavy units, etc with their melta bombs, thunder hammer & shrikes claws.

The scouts will be back trying to pin and rend, and the termies will be moving up in the Land Raider (Which will also act as anti armor with the Lascannon Sponsers), then the third drop pod will come down with the melta unit.

After that, if all goes well, it will be a bloody battle, no?

Do you think this list would work well? Info is appreciated!

Thanks,

-Revackey

It's a pretty good list, I guess. I think you have some points wasted in the thunder hammer and the stormbolter on the LR, honestly.

If you're going to scout move the bikes close enough to get the locator beacon, I would rather have astartes grenade launchers for more variety since you're probably going to be in rapid fire range anyway.

My question is, what are you going to do if you don't go first? You'll have a lot of things just sitting dead in the water if you deploy like that.

I'm not sure about taking the thunder hammer or storm bolter out, I see your point, and I'm going to try to get the grenade launchers, and thank you for bring up the deploy point, any advice about that?

You can turbo boost your bikes on their scout move to start them with their cover save and make sure you infiltrate your assault squad behind cover.

Here's why I don't like the stormbolter: you're dedicating your lr to anti tank and you're wasting the points on a defensive weapon that won't hurt the stuff you're supposed to be firing at. If you want to shoot at infantry, use potms and fire your nonlascannons at them.

Would you suggest using those 10 points for a grenade launcher on a bike?

I totally agree here.

Also, since the load is shooty termies,
Q: Why have them in the LR?

A: *for protection turn 1, Erekose, you idiot!*

Okay, true, but they have 8 shots of dice which will find targets on Turn 1, on the move, shoot and possibly assault (Turn 2). So if the LR is going to deliver PFist and Heavy Flamer fun, it ought to have EA to make sure it brings the termies close ... well, closer, for that turn 2 drop off.

This is not an essential change, I think. If I *had* to use an LR and not a LRC or LRR, I'd park it with a minimal tactical inside, on an objective, and let the LasCans do their thing -- not ideal at all though.

Are your LasCan sponsons glued on? Paying the $12 or so for Hurricane Sponsons is worth it. Heck, I swapped a Pfist Sgt for Flame Storm sponsons that I can change out for the Hurricanes. The guy just wanted to use hurricanes only for his LRC.

Lascannons are not glued, the piece that holds them on is though, also, is there an extra armor upgrade to buy like there is from Forgeworld for the Rhino?
