Well, both armies field hard hitting elite forces.
I'd take the list with the Dread as it gives you more flexibility.

Unfortunately your buddy is to much of a glass hammer to be any help to you, so while both his trucks die turn one your stuff is going to be slowly picked off on the way over.

You guys really need more numbers. Overcosted death company arent going to help your cause, run sanguinary priests in some full up assault squads and have your buddy get a couple small 5 man loota squads, and tell him to run boys, at this point level you'll need more then 17 models in 2 barely armored vehicals.

Yeah I have to agree. I mean, I run Eldar, and we come in tiny forces, and both of those forces are even smaller. You are basically running 3 deathstar units for 2000 points. On top of that, you guys have 0 shooting whatsoever. Team battles are really about specializing in what you are comparatively better at than your teammate. For instance, even though BA have a strong assault component, they also have a fairly strong ability as a shooting army. This is magnified when compared to the orks. I think a couple ball preds/regular preds would be a great boon to your game as a team. You could also try to spam Razorbacks, I personally like the LC/TL PG combo, but I fight a lot of marines.

We really need to know what you expect to face in order to give the best advice. If you don't know what you might face, then you need to take a general take all comers type list, and neither of you guys have that at all at the moment.

I would also strongly consider some Furioso Dreadnoughts. They are absolute monsters in CC if equipped with blood talons, and could kill that squad of 8 nobs your buddy is running before they even get a swing in. Armor 13 in CC is nothing to sneeze at, and WS 6 means even against most HQs he is forcing them to hit on 4s and hitting on the same himself.
