True Orks are da bestest, but I would take Space Marines over Chaos Marines because the current Chaos Marine codex doesn't represent them well.

Currently SM. The codex is newer, has more flexibility, and more cost effective imho.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

Everyone is better than everyone else, always and forever.

Seriously, pointless question. Armies are balanced to have advantages and disadvantages. There is no true "better" or "best" army in the game.

And OP, work on your spelling, capitalization, and grammar please. Your posts need a little work to be easier to read.

I think you should go Orks, they are definitely better.

Oddly, back in 3rd edition, I had planned a Loyalist Chapter army using the Chaos Codex, and a Renegade Warband using the Space Marine Codex, because they each gave me options that better represented what I wanted to do. Neither project ever was completed...

To me, they are both Space Marines, and whether one is better than the other lies entirely in the execution of a given list. It's rock-paper-scissors with the two of them.

Yeah, whats better, yin or yang?

Whats better, good or evil?

Whats better, lightside or darkside?

This question, as Brother SRM said, is unanswerable.

I'm not sure that's entirely true because back in the 3.5 codex, Chaos Space Marine players were spoiled with choice now there codex has Little to no uniqueness to it. Also the attention has shifted away from the legions to renegade chapters,

instead of balancing the two ideas. I guess it's what you prefer though.

The SM book is unquestionably stronger.... their flexibility and exceptional mobility just blow chaos out of the water.
The best advice I can give you about chaos right now is: "don't"

What does any of this have to do with game balance and the rock-paper-scissors factors therein?

Personally, I think Space Marines are better, cause they don't have creepy spikes and such all over them. That said, you should play Necrons.

I never said a single word about characterful or unique options. I just said there is no best army in the game, and that they're all good at certain things. Where the hell are you getting this stuff?

I'd go space marines simply because the tactical options are more relatively straightforward.

I know you didn't mention anything about characterful choices, I'm just saying there's more to an army than just game balance.

I would have to go with the sm as they have more options and can be assisted by deamon hunters. They also are the most overpowered team in the 40k universe.
