Irked Necron Immortal

I accidentally erased Game 1 in posting Game 2...

My list:

Necron Lord - VoD, Gaze of Flame, Warscythe
Nightbringer
20 Warriors
10 Warriors
15 Destroyers
2 Monoliths
3 Heavy Destroyers

Game 1:

My opponent was a Grey Knight player with 3 Land Raiders, a Rhino with SoB, and 10 Terminators on foot. I won first turn, wrecked one Monolith, immobilized another, and stunned the other with no EA. The rest of the game he killed 8 models and wasn't able to move much. He pretty much conceded after my first turn of shooting.

That's the short short version...

Game 2:

Opponent:
Orks

After getting the full 23 points, I knew I was in for a fight in round 2. And sure enough, my opponent drops this list:

Ghazkull
Big Mek - KFF
10 Nobz - 6 PKs, 3 Uge Choppas, 2 Banners, Painboy, Cyborks in a Battle Wagon, Deff Rolla, 2 Big shootas, AP, GR
14 Burnas in a Battle Wagon, Deff Rolla, 2 Big shootas, AP, GR
14 Lootas
12 Orks - Nob with a PK, Banner, Trukk
20 Orks - Nob with a PK, Banner, 2 Big shootas
20 Orks - Nob with a PK, Banner, 2 Big shootas
16? Stormboyz - Zagstrukk
3 Killa Kans
Deff Dread

If I can't stop those Battlewagons, I'm going to get tabled.

Mission:
3 moving objectives... At the end of every player turn, we rolled a scatter and 2d6 for each uncontrolled objective. If we rolled a hit, we still used the little arrow. 1 Objective was placed in the center of the table and we each put an objective 12" away from it. Bonus points for killing the enemy's most expensive HQ, killing the enemy's most expensive unit, and for controlling all the objectives in one turn at least one time in the entire game. Negative points for not killing any unit and not controlling any objectives at the end of the game. The deployment was Dawn of War...and I didn't have my Solar Pulse ...always bring that thing to a tournament because there is always 1 DoW game.

Deployment:
My opponent won the first turn. He deployed his Deff Dread in the dead center of the table. That made me a liittle happy. Everything was set to come in from his board edge exept ofcourse for the Stormboyz.

I deployed my Nightbringer behind a tree 18" to the left of the Deff Dread and a squad of 10 Warriors just off my long table edge facing his Dread.

[forgot to get the deployment pic]

Turn 1:
I failed to seize the initiative. He moved forward with his Deff Dread straight at my Warriors ...and closer to my board edge to negate the cover of night. On my right, he came in hard with both Battlewagons, the Trukk, the Kans, and the Lootas. In the center he came in with both big mobs of boyz. He ran everything to gain a few inches.

We roll to see where the uncontested objectives go, and they inch towards his board edge.
[end Ork turn 1]

On my right, I walked on with the 20 Warriors with the Lord behind some area terrain of rocks in the corner. I brought in the Monoliths facing the Battlewagons and pretty close to the Deff Dread. I turbo-boosted 2 Destroyer units up the left flank with the third unit moving up 12" behind them. I moved the Warriors backward to get farther than 12" from the Dread just in case. I bring in the 3 Heavy Destroyers behind my Warriors. I moved the Nightbringer closer to the center of the board.

The Nightbringer is heading for those Burnas, Kans, and Nobz.

Shooting went as well as I could have hoped. I Particle Whipped his Dread and got a penetrating 6. My one unit of Destroyers could see 33" and took out 5 boyz from the left mob despite cover saves.

We roll to see where the uncontested objectives go, and they inch towards his board edge. The objective closest to me went 12" straight back away from me.

[end Necron turn 1]

Turn 2:
Stormboyz decide not to show up. My opponent rushes forward with everything. He then had a choice with his Trukk. He could go flat out and be out of range of the KFF but in definite threat range of the 20 Warriors or he could just go 12". He decided to move his Trukk flat out to get as close as possible to my 20 Warriors. His large mobz ran into area terrain.

The Monoliths aim to take out the Battlewagons as they advance.

His Trukk is in threat range.

He ran everything he could, and he shot with the Lootas against the only real target I gave him...my Nightbringer . I took 3 wounds and failed 3 saves ...

We rolled for the uncontested objectives, and they inch closer to his boyz ....
[end Ork turn2]

I skim forward with all my Destroyers ready to get revenge for my Nightbringer. I slide the Monolith on the left more to my left behind a piece of area terrain. I slide the other Monolith a few inches to the left because the PK in the Trukk is about to not have another target. I use the Veil of Darkness to teleport my 20 Warriors to my left flank where the Destroyers just left. I move my Nightbringer closer to my Destroyers to play goalee against the Stormboyz.

Sorry for the blur.

I use 2 units of Destroyers to cut one mob of boyz down to a few models.

I use my other unit of Destroyers to reach across the board and take out his trukk that is out of range for the KFF.

I Particle Whip the Burna's Battlewagon and wreck it despite the KFF. I use the other Particle Whip to hit the Trukk Boyz. He loses 8 Orks after his rerolled morale test and holds.

We roll for the uncontested objectives and they move right in front of him. From here on, he uses his large mob to hold on objective still and the other two fly around in his backfield where neither of our troops can get to.
[end Necron turn 2]

Turn 3:
Stormboyz stay out of the fight. He moved his working Battlewagon over the Battlewagon wreck to get closer to my lines. He advanced with his Kans. The mobs of Boyz dug in deeper into the area terrain. The Burnas moved behing their wrecked wagon.

His lootas hit back hard and take out a full unit of Destroyers. His Kans take out all my Heavy Destroyers in an accurate salvo. The survivors of his Trukk unit assault my Monolith and do nothing.

[end Ork turn 3]

I roll for WBB and get 4/5 Destroyers who mob up with the unit behind them. My opponent starts saying something about not believing he's only killed a few Destroyers. I'm still worried about the Stormboyz so I decide to keep my weakened Nightbringer with the Destroyers. I move the unit of 9 Destroyers up closer to the crater with the 3 Orks. The unit of 5 Destroyers pull up behind them. My Warriors stay still for another turn and keep waiting for the heavy hitters of my army to do some more damage before they make a move. I move one Monolith into area terrain safely, and the other Monolith tank shocks his Trukk boyz who hold their ground.

I used one Monolith to Particle Whip the surviving Battlewagon and got a penetrating 6to put the nobz in a crater. I use the other Monolith to insta-kill a few Nobz.

I used the Destroyers to take few boyz out of the fresh mob. His 3 Orkz were close to me but my Nightbringer was in range to push them away. I used my 10 Warriors to kill all of the trukk boyz except for the nob.
[end Necron turn 3]

Turn 4:
The Stormboyz came in... He went to drop them on the other side of my Destroyers...where my Nightbringer couldn't help. He rolled for scatter and they went right into the Destroyers. I got to place his unit and I put them in the area terrain between his Burnas and Lootas. He looses 3 to dangerous terrain checks.

Ghazkull wants revenge on my Monoliths. He rushes at my Monolith with the Nobz. His Kans run toward the Nightbringer because now he has nothing between my 14 Destroyers/Nightbringer and his 2 mobs. His trukk nob chases the Monolith.

He declared a Waaagh and put Ghazkull right in front my left Monolith. But he didn't move his 3 Ork survivors toward my Destroyers which confused me. His Lootas shot my 9 Destroyers for no effect

He assaulted both Monoliths and Ghazkull did absolutely nothing to the Monolith...but his Nobz blew it up with a penetrating 6.
[end Ork turn 4]

I moved my 9 Destroyers up to his long table edge with the 5 Destroyers close behind. I moved my Nightbringer within 6" of his larger mob who are holding the objective still. I moved my surviving Monolith onto a rocky hill to get a good angle on the rest of his forces.

I Particle Whip a few more nobz off the board, my 5 Destroyers kill off his 3 Orks, and my 9 Destroyers inflict 7 glancing hits on his Kans which wrecks 1 and destroys another's klaw.

I assaulted his large mob with my Nightbringer and take the unit down to 2 Orks...which was almost huge.

[end Necron turn 4]

Turn 5:
He moved Ghazkull at my 10 Warriors which was fine by me. I'll sacrifice that unit to keep Ghazkull away from the fight. His trukk nob and stormboyz close in on my Monolith which was fine by me again... I think he just lost sight of the objective and wanted blood. His Kans closed in on my Nightbringer with the Burnas (finally) moving towards the Nightbringer/objective.

His Lootas took shots at the Destroyers again and took down 2 more.

He assaulted my Monolith with his trukk nob and Zagstrukk...and stunned it. His Kans assaulted my Nightbringer hoping to take out his final 2 wounds...but I use Etheric Tempest to throw his Ork mob back because he still had 1 strength model in the unit. My plan was to throw them back, kill the Kans, and then assault the Burnas. Well the Orks went flying and I rolled 5 attacks on the Kans needing 3s...I got 1 hit . It was an auto-pen which wrecked the Kan with no arm. However my opponent failed to wound the Nightbringer.
[end Ork turn 5]

My Destroyers stayed down. I didn't do much this turn because we getting real close to reaching the time limit. I moved up my Destroyers to clear room for my 20 Warriors. My Lord Veils with the Warriors and land dead center in the crater next to the one objective I had a prayer in reaching. I lost 4 Warriors to dangerous terrain but who cares?

My 5 Destroyers got rid of the final 2 Orks, my 7 Destroyers and Monolith took out half of the Burnas, my Warriors ran into the objective (I needed a 2), and that was all it took.

My Nightbringer finished off the Kan and when I was about to pass turn, we decided we didn't have enough time for another so we called it.

I got a minor victory with 1 objective to 0.

I didn't know how anyone else did, and the minor victory made me believe I just lost all hope of winning this thing.
