OK... OK.... I'm not talking about banning them because of some "imbalance" issue. I'm tired of people bringing these massive dice and not being very good at rolling them.. without chucking them at my nicely painted minis.

Would I be out of line, to ask my oponent to not use ginormous dice and allow them to use my dice?

Tell them to roll somewhere NOT on your gaming table. Or get a dice tower to carry around. I hate it when people use overly huge dice too. Just because you play Ogres doesnt mean you have to use those enormous big gun dice from 4th ed 40k

I had a guy try to use artillery dice during a blood bowl game.... I told him to F off..

Just roll into a boxtop on the side of the table, problem solved. Just be happy they're not using metal dice.

My fiance has metal dice with sapphire insets for the numbers. Those suck to have rolled at your minis. I myself prefer the smaller ones, but I have no issues with larger dice if the person knows how to use them

I'd probably think you were weird for telling me not to use my dice.

Although I wouldn't use the large casino dice because my hands aren't big enough to roll 20 at a time lol. Slows the game down too much for some armies to use.

Better than those micro 2mm dice that your opponent picks up (claiming many many hits/wounds) before your old eyes can even discern the actual number of micro-dots facing.

Or people using a happy mix of small dice, big dice, dice with numbers, dice with dots, dice with the "1" replaced with a symbol and dice with the "6" replaced with a symbol.
Not to mention the dice which are, say, green with the dots being a slightly different shade of green.

The dice is not for you. The dice is for your opponent to check that you are being honest.
Everybody have a responsibility to make sure that his dice can be easily read.

Dice towers or dice trays for people with dice rolling problems.

I still use the little standard-issue GW dice. In fact, I even still have the dice that came with second edition. I have no choice, because at least once every game I have to roll 50-60 dice at a time. 30 Orks swinging at you requires the drama of rolling a bucket of dice, so I oblige the onlookers and if I used big dice, that would not work. The only big die I use is one of the apocalypse big gun dice as a turn marker.

Yeah, the only disadvantage of Dakka Dice is that you can only barely hold 30+ of them... well, my hands are of average size so YMMV... but I always roll in an open area, off-table if I can't safely avoid models.
The occasional scatter dice, rolled near the action, can go astray - hard to completely avoid that one.

My wife got me a couple of HUGE dice (3x3 inches or so) that I use as turn counters - usually! Had a guy slam his dice into my minis 3 or 4 times in a row. Kept my mouth shut, grabbed my HUMUNGOUS dice and whipped 'em across the table for 2 TL lascannon shots at his LR Crusader. Both hit (both his model AND his model! pun intended) and as he began to throw a fit a 3 year old would be proud of, I calmly reminded him that I had had to pick up a dozen of my minis from the floor because of his wild dicing. He got the hint and has been pretty good with them ever since. Sometimes a little 'eye for an eye' action works!

The only problem I've had with dice is in DnD. One of my friends has both metal dice AND humongous dice. Both shake the table whenever he rolls. Luckily there's not much on the table. Unluckily I use hand painted models for my characters...

This might sound daft, but surely TO's could stipulate preferred dice? Or even supply them or reccomend an approved seller?

Knocking into painted minis is not cool. Frankly, neither is knocking into unpainted ones.

If you must use large or metal dice, bring a box or something to roll in, or aim away from models.

I don't mind big dice, as long as folks are careful and know how to roll em. Personally I prefer the small sized chessex dice, where you get a brick of like 36 of em. the regular sized dice just feel too "board gamey" to me. I do like to use my big gun dice for when I shoot superheavy stuff in apocalypse games.

I played a tourney a long time ago against a fella that had a big round bowl looking thing with felt on the bottom and he used that for all his dice, he rolled em all inside and anything that fell out counted as cracked.

So far I've played 1 game with my new fantasy bone dice, and I'm convinced that those dice along with my usual poor generalling made me lose horribly.

I like using the casino dice because it is SO much easier to pick out results from a distance. Also, it gives me another option for unlike roles (power swords, plasma guns, etc). I go to pretty great pains to make sure I am not bounding them into someone leses models, however. I dont even touch someonel elses minis unless damn near forced.
