The necrons rose from their crypt on the fringe world of Fabulosa, being called forth by their god; the Void Dragon. It had been millennia since they had last been called into service by their masters. Their god was being held captive, his power drained by parasitic beings; lesser than themselves. It was their duty to travel the vast space to the far away planet of Mars and purge the living filth from the stars. Feeding their souls to their eternal masters.

However, just as they were amassing to embark on their sleek craft to make their trek towards the human infested planet, a detachment of the human menace descended upon them in, hurdling towards the ground, screeching through the black night sky, in their primitive drop ships. The grinding of treads was not far behind.

This is my first BT, so hopefully it's not too bad!

Here's my opponent's list from what I can remember

HQ:
wolf lord in terminator armor with a wolf claw and storm shiled, wolf tooth necklace, and melta bombs

Elites:
4 wolf guard termies with an assortment of power weapons, chain fists, and storm shields that podded down with the lord
A squad of 15 scouts with snipers
1 dread in drop pod with multi melta
Troops:
4 squads of 10 gray hunters in drop pods, two flamer squads and two melta squads

Heavy support:
2 vindicators

My list:
HQ:
Lord with Res orb and Veil
Destroyer lord with war scythe and phase shifter (4++)

Troops:
3 squads of 10 warriors

Fast attack:
5 destroyers
4 destroyers
7 scarab swarms that went with destroyer lord

Heavy support:
Monolith
3 H destroyers
2 H destroyers

We rolled, annihilation, and dawn of war. I went second and held everything back to come in turn one.

The might Space Wolves made planet fall to investigate strange readings that suggested a necron crypt was buried beneath the planet's surface. Much to their surprise, the robotic villains were already making their advance. Their eyes and weapons glowed menacingly with green energy. Their expressionless, metallic skulls were visible due to the eerie light. Any lesser men would have turn and ran, but the Space wolves remained stoic, determined to bring glory to Russ and defend the Imperium from the soulless machines. The let out their battle cry in anticipation for the battle that would soon ensue.

Turn 1: Space wolves
My opponent drops his dread, two gray hunter squads with meltas, and his termies on to the field. He drops on my left flank, towards the middle of the table. He rolls pretty bad scatters, never quite landing where he wants to. The scatter die pretty much hates him the entire game. His vindicators take position in his deployment zone.

The necron horde continued their advance, unperturbed by the human invasion. The star gods would soon be feasting upon their souls. The fast flying destroyers zoomed in to get clear shots at the foolish brutes. They opened fire, searing the flesh off of the living filth. The heavy gauss cannons blasted into the large metal walker that had landed disabling its internal systems. Another volley of heavy gauss fire blasts one of the larger, more heavily armored humans into red mist. The ominous monolith floated silently towards the battle field. Its sickly green energy crackled before letting out a huge blast at the marines, vaporizing a few and destroying their drop ship.

Turn 1: Necrons
I come on to the field pretty close to him to try to cripple everything that had come down before his next wave of pods came down. Honestly, I could have played it a lot better and just deployed far away from him and milking the 36 inch range on the destroyers, using the area terrain to slow him down as a whittle his forces down and block them off with the monolith, but that wouldn't have been fun for anybody.

Everything moves on and takes position. All of the warriors huddle close to each other to take advantage of the orb. The destroyer lord and scarabs moves a full 24 inches, within charge range of his termies in order to bait the charge and lock them in there for a few turns while the war scythe weeds them out, then go up to the vindicators and tear them up... that's the idea any way.

My destroyers really put the hurt on his marines and kill a decent chunk out of one of his squads. The monolith wrecks a drop pod and vapes a few of the marines around it for an easy KP and weakening his forces. Heavy D's knock out his dread to get the easy KP's and make sure that DCCW never makes it to my monolith. The squad of two vapes a termy.

The Space Wolves watched as their venerated brother was decimated after thousands of years of service. They vow to avenge his death and open fire with their holy bolt guns as their reinforcements arrived. Their shooting, however, did not seem to be effective against the living metal bodies of the unholy machines. The new arrivals landed next to a forest where they could see the gleam of necron gauss through the trees. The lifted their flamers and attempted to sweep away the infernal machines in righteous fire. The Wolf Lord and his retinue of battle brothers rushed forward to protect their heavy weapons from the locust swarms that were jetting towards them.

SW turn 2

He moves up towards me and flames me from a newly arrived drop podding squad of grey hunters. They manage to down 6 warriors. His scouts come in from my deployment zone as well, but don't do anything due to carrying heavy weapons.

We didn't know whether or not the cover save from moving flat out applied to combat as well (in terms of initiative). He thought it did so I ended up striking first. The lord only managed to down one termy despite ignoring armor and invulv saves. The scarabs cause 1 wound after 21 attacks... he fails his armor save. He strikes back with everything on the lord, ending up only causing three wounds... This however, was all he needed as I then proceeded to fail all of them and die. The scarabs pass their fearless save and are now locked in.

The necrons forces adjusted their position to get a better view of their human assailants. The group of warriors that had been melted into slag began to reform, three of them stood from the pile of molten metal before disappearing all together.

Necron turn 2

I pass 3 of my WBB rolls and port the squad through the monolith and pass two more. I moved my squad of two heavy destroyers on top of a hill to get LOS on the vindicators and making room for the other heavy destroyers to do the same from behind the hill.

The destroyers continue to pound the marines that dropped on my flank killing off a few more. Heavy destroyers do nothing to the vindicators and I proceed to ready myself the return fire.

The swarms kill another termy after taking some wounds from the lord. They take some fearless wounds (sorry lol, I don't remember all of the specifics for this combat.) The chain fist wolf guard is the only one left and misses with his attacks.

The Space Wolves were now out numbered by the metallic fiends. The watched their battle brothers being flayed alive by the cruel gauss weaponry. This plunged them into an even deeper battle fervor. The cannons of the vindicators returned fire and purged the xeno scum from the universe. The last of their reinforcements descended from the sky, opening fire on the flying, skeletal constructs. The wolf scouts had gotten into position but their weapons bounce harmlessly off of the necron warriors who had positioned themselves just outside of the forest. The gray hunters don't seem to have much better luck either as their holy bolters fail them, bouncing harmlessly off of the living metal that plated their prey. The wolf lord and the last of his retinue continue to fight off the swarms of scarabs, crushing them like the insects they are.

SW turn 3:

His vindicators move up a little and destroy the two heavy destroyers on top of the hill.
The last squad of marines drops down and kills two destroyers. His other squad and scouts kill one necron warrior with their combined shooting. His weakened squad of marines fails to do anything but move forward and be out of range of my monolith.

The scarabs combat sees another swarm go down, but they stay locked in.

The necron lord and his warriors disappear into the blackness. The rear most vindicator's gun suddenly goes off line as they are thrown to the ground. "Where the HELL did they come from?" "I-I don't know, they just appeared out of thin air!" The gauss weaponry, while not being able to completely pierce the hull, was melting through the side armor of their battle tank. They could see through the view finders that their brothers were not fairing any better, their main gun and treads being knocked out be the heavy cannons of the remaining heavy destroyers. The implacable machines continued to rise after being destroyed, shifting positions and nearly finishing off the last of the two squads that had landed in the main drop zone.

I move all of my forces that were covering my left flank back, trying to avoid a charge by massing fire onto the weakest of the squads. I bring it down to four men through the combined fire of all of my destroyers and nine rapid firing warriors.

My heavy destroyers had moved up on to the hill and took three shots into the closest vindicator, immobilizing, stunning, and destroying the main gun.

My lord veiled his squad beside the rear vindicator, destroying the main weapon and stunning the crew.

The monolith shot it's blast at the drop pod of the full squad, killing only three marines. It blows up however and kills two more.

The scarabs are finally wiped out and he consolidates towards the lord and his warriors, but he's got a ways to go.

The squad that was close to the forest rapid fires the gray hunters, killing one.

The space wolves realize that they are on the verge of destruction and they only have one more chance to make turn the tides. Unfortunately for them, one of their squads was too distracted by the large, looming construct. They focus all of their fire on it. Despite using their advanced melta weaponry, they could not damage the monolith. The lord and his remaining guard run towards the new threat to their heavy battle tanks. The scouts and gray continue shooting at the resilient warriors on the other side of the forest to no effect. The remaining marines that had survived their drop site massacre ignited their flamers and tried to cleanse the flying necrons, but their bodies proved to be too resilient. They then charged head first into battle, their chain swords merely scratching the metallic bodies of the dreaded machines.

SW turn 4:
I was really worried about the situation in the middle. He could easily multi charge the destroyers and squad of warriors that were by the monolith due to my failed attempts at shooting him down. However, his large squad tried to shoot the monolith with their melta guns, which would make that impossible *whew*. After that, he assaulted with his squad of four into the squad of five destroyers, with no wounds caused to either side.

after this he conceded. I was happy with the result. We both could have played it better, but I was still pleased beating one of the top two codex-es with a bottom tier army.

The marines aboard their cruiser could not believe their eyes as they watched the massacre from above. Their hardened battle brothers being washed away in the green light of the soulless machines' gauss weaponry. They prayed to their emperor for the protection of their brother's souls. Their words fell on deaf ears as the souls were harvested by the star gods to try to sate their undying hunger. The necrons left as quickly as they had appeared, disappearing into the blackness of space.

Hopefully this BT isn't too bad. I'm pretty dang tired so it's kinda mish-mashed and probably not as well organized as it should be. Well, just give me any CnC you have I suppose.

"You're right, we all know you are."
