Hey all, Say a dwarf charachter had 2 hand weapons and i decided to give him a rune of cleaving (+1 strength) would i have to buy for both weapons or treat them as one weapon when applyig runes?

From memory the rules for runes state that, as soon as you buy a rune for a weapon you lose all original abilities of that weapon.

So, for example, if you buy a rune for a GW it ceases to be a GW (unless you buy the master rune of whatever that specifically makes it stay as a GW....)

As such as soon as you place a rune on one weapon it ceases to be a hand weapon; this means that the additional handweapon can no longer grant an extra attack as there is no other handweapon.

In other words - if you want a runic weapon dont buy an additional hand weapon, it will be fairly useless.

Nosf is exactly correct. This is spelled out in the Dwarf description of how runes work in the Dwarf Army book. Its also re-highlights under the slayer entry in the armybook.

In general its often not a factor. Dwarf characters can be build mainly for offense, or defense. Its really easy to get a good armor save with minimal rune allotment so it makes offensive characters easy to build.

Please keep in mind the entry in the Slayer section for what happens to them when you add runes.

Ah right - in which case this forum really isnt a replacement for your armybook, as we cant give out rules wholesale (at least, not without GW attack squigs coming to get us...)

Check ebay
there are a few Dwarf army books available at the moment
I nabbed one for £8 inc postage but if I had looked harder and/or been more patient could have got one a tad cheaper than that.

I went on the priciple that a book in the hand is worth two in the library.
